English has the bad word "cock" - referring to the male genitalia.

I don't think it has anything to do with chickens.

In Norway and Sweden, the word "kuk" means the same thing and sounds very similar. It is unmistakably referring to the genitals, and cannot be confused for a bird.

The English language took many words from the Scandinavian languages, and I'm fairly convinced this is one of them.

I remember watching this French cartoon series as a kid. Les Mondes Engloutis, known in English as "Spartacus and The Sun Beneath The Sea".

The original French title translates as "The Enclosed Worlds".

Several worlds wrapped inside one another, like a Mastroska doll.

The main broadcaster in Norway - NRK - aired it in French, with Norwegian subtitles - so it was for the older children that knew how to read.

Norwegian title: Arkadia - Reisen til jordens indre ("Arcadia - The Journey to the Innards of the Earth")

I didn’t vote for Biden or Trump in 2020 because I asked the simple question:

“Justify me voting for your candidate merely on their merits without mentioning the other candidate.”

This election season I pose the exact same question. Except now I have even more reasons not to vote for Biden on his own merits. Just the same as I have more reasons not to vote for Trump on his own merits.

Me and a friend might do a road trip to the end of the world this summer. He has a drone that he wants to fly and I have a little camera rig consisting of my phone and a digital recorder.

What's the best RSS/newsfeed/social reader for Linux?

I have moved completely to @feeeed on iOS and I'm looking for something like that on Linux. Been using Miniflux for a long time but I do not have time to read them all and would like to have some algorithm to just show me the "key points" what to read. Anything like that for Linux out there?

    First Norwegian went to space today. 🇳🇴 🚀

    Marcus Wandt mostly grew up in Sweden and wears a Swedish flag on his uniform, but his mother is Norwegian and he has a dual citizenship.

    He is the only person in the world with a Norwegian passport who has ever been to space, arguably making him the first Norwegian in space.

    It's easier for normal people to find partners. If it was hard as it is for the eccentrics, humans would be extinct. Having eccentric parents is pretty rare. Being an eccentric with eccentric parents is even rarer. The genes of two different eccentrics tend to average out when combined.
