Swift Macros seem amazing and really speak to me as a programming nerd. But if I empathize with beginning programmers even for a second, I'm horrified. Swift has spiraled inexorably into impossible to understand territory. I used to defend it as a beginner's language but it's harder and harder to do so.

For 20 years it seemed 1Password knew exactly what customers wanted, how they used their software, and how it could be improved. They've been taking a PR beating the last couple years, at least in my circles. They used to be the obvious choice, and now most people I know are looking for other options (or older versions). I don't think telemetry will fix that.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed medication to try to help it. It's really hard to gauge how effective it is, but for some reason more things are getting done than used to. I feel more ambitious and don't view every new task as an overwhelming challenge. If this resonates with you maybe consider taking the plunge like I did.

Unpopular opinion: it's the EU's fault that Progressive Web Apps are disabled on iOS. People expect Apple to jump through hoops to preserve something they don't prioritize. Why? If PWAs are important to the EU they should grant Apple an unambiguous permission to continue hosting them in WebKit-only if they choose to.

I am so proud of myself and my society that my 15yo boy can come home and tell me nonchalantly about one of his best male friend's boyfriend. Like it's nothing. This is the future we want. Never would have flown in my childhood. And I'm sure it doesn't fly many places today.

I went from being an ardent masker to a non-masker. Now I find it a little weird when I see masked people. I try hard not to judge them, because I was them! But I feel like the time has come to move on, unless there's a medical reason. FWIW I have never had Covid.

Many people see running as a virtuous activity, and I agree. But it's also a problem-erasing activity. Drink too much? Go for a run. Anxious? Go for a run. Angry? Go for a run. It's not perfect, but the immediate impact of a high energy run often offsets the negatives in one's life.

My town lets you request street trees be planted anywhere you can keep an eye on them and water if needed. I am responsible for four trees on my block, and just requested three more. It's great to know that I'm literally throwing shade.
