I am so proud of myself and my society that my 15yo boy can come home and tell me nonchalantly about one of his best male friend's boyfriend. Like it's nothing. This is the future we want. Never would have flown in my childhood. And I'm sure it doesn't fly many places today.

Ever since I installed the macOS Sonoma beta, I've had random feedback from people on teleconferences that a speech bubble appears from my mouth, with a thumbs up or thumbs down in it. It turns out "video reactions" are enabled by default, and affect every app that uses the video camera! Careful on those work and medical calls! PSA: if you install Grammarly it disables the system's "continuous spell checking" feature unilaterally across all apps. This is extremely poor form. @mjtsai wrote about @iawriter's discovery over two years ago, and it still does it. I was alerted that some folks who rebuilt their Mac apps with Xcode 15 are finding they crash at launch on M1 Macs running Big Sur. I just happen to have such a beast at my disposal, and I reproduced likely the same crash on it with MarsEdit. It looks like some boilerplate dyld initialization that is compiled in expects libc++ to be loaded, but it's not... not sure if any developers can easily work around it. Probably an Apple job.
