On this release Mastodon changes the default registration mode to being closed. Meaning that if you have never changed the registration mode for your server, it will be closed by default.
Also, it introduces a feature that will "automatically require approval for new registrations in the absence of moderators". Meaning that if no user with moderation permission has accessed the server in one week, the registration mode changes to require manual approval.
Since the beginning of the recent spam attack https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/111953045633249137, I have been monitoring Masto.host and, when possible, taking action to mitigate the effects of this attack.
All actions I made should have minimal impact. Still, in cases where that was not so I have communicated those actions to the admins. So, if you have not received my email, no action was taken on your server.
Oh, the Popcorn Queens are real! Yes, we have two of them in our family: My mother and my Aunt! First time in the history of the Queens that sisters won in different years.
I'm so freaking furious! I don't want a teenager Chat Bot! I don't want any AI attitude! I'm thinkin' here!
(This denial was on the "Creative" setting. When I earlier had the middle setting, it created an "okay" story on a different topic that I forced it to expand four times to make the story hold together. Maybe it learned its lesson after the forced continuations: No Soup For You!)
The snowball story was really horrible. I just re-did the prompt in ChatGPT4 for Teams and got a lovely, long, beautiful result that will become a podcast episode it turned out so well!
If this is how MSFT are selling their version of the OpenAI genius, it's going to sour a lot of people. What a rip!
Yes, the answer isn't to fix the problem -- it's to stop the process -- and start all over, but then, of course, refuse to revise anything new that's been submitted.
Funny, with ChatGPT if you want more of an answer, you type "Continue" and it goes.
Earlier today Microsoft Copilot Pro balked at "Continue" and asked me a series of questions about my meaning and intention. I finally followed one of its clues, and typed "Continue the story" and that worked until now!
Yeah, choosing "creative" and then getting an uncooperative Bot with an attitude is not what people want when it comes to expressing creativity -- our creativity, not the Bot's!
My personal account remains, but my new Teams account doesn't have any of my custom instructions or ChatGPT custom prompts!
Arrrghgh! I have to re-do them all, and since I cancelled my personal paid account, I can't "edit" my old custom prompts and copy them over to my Teams account!
No problem! I'm glad I saved all my custom GPTs in my MSFT account as well as my OpenAI API account!
I should be able to hand copy them all over. Big job, but nothing will be lost.
I asked ChatGPT if there was a way to import my personal GPTs into Teams, and the Bot told me there was, but human support had to do it for me. Ha! I'm sure that would only take a year or so to happen...
