An Obsidian user on Medium recently lost an entire vault to data corruption because of an encryption plugin.

I’m very sorry this happened to them, and that they didn’t have a backup.

Truly, if our notes in Obsidian can’t function without features that exist only in that app, we’ve shackled ourselves to the wall of a prison without a door.

Always have an exit plan! Always backup your work! And never lock all your data with a key you don’t own.

So happy I took the time to learn . It's going to be revolutionary for my vault. It'll help me create main topic pages to keep track of my notes. I used to manually link every note to a "MOC" but I kept forgetting and found it tedious. This is going to be a "leave it and let grow" thing, and it suits my brain immensely lol.

Does the WordPress ActivityPub plugin allow for following others and seeing their messages too? Or is it just broadcast and being followed? Iow could you run WP as an AP instance? Would that result in as bloated databases as Masto instances create?

Anyone still around from two years ago when I occasionally posted about the start of my and its progress?

Update: I now have a (real) outline for my dissertation! I used the in to visualize it. Very useful (and a free alternative to !)

It feels a little unreal, but it seems like there's actually a book coming out of this. 🤯

Took some valuable advice on organizing the whole thing from these two books:

  2. Authoring a PhD (sometimes a bit paternalistic to me, but still very useful)

Now I have to start structuring the chapters. I hope to have three chapters drafted by the end of the summer. And one chapter ready for publication in an edited volume by September ... wooo, this is exciting (and, of course, intimidating)!

@pfefferle @joerghafer @Krisuuu @nele @timovt. Nach einigem hin und herüberlegen halte ich das so auch für sinnvoll. Natürlich wäre es nice/bequem, 1 Account für alles zu haben. Wer aber nur meine Blogbeiträge lesen will, sollte nicht meinem "normalen" Account folgen müssen und so seine Timeline mit all meinen kurzen Gedanken füllen.
Muss mich mal damit auseinandersetzen, wie/ob solche automatischen Boosts eine Möglichkeit wären.

She's giving a talk on making PKM observable. You have to see processes in order to improve them. Working with black boxes is no fun at all.

I wonder if it's (or will ever be) possible, to 'snap' apps on to, let's say, a flat surface. For example a table. Or a wall. Spatial positioning seems to be solid.
You could customize your virtual/augmented workspace. That would be really nice. Blend the digital world into the digital world.

Is there some (implicit like file.mday) metadata in @obsidian files, that I can leverage using the Plugin to sort notes in a shared vault () by author?

I'd like to have a dynamic view on what notes were edited last by whom.

The Border theme, coupled with the Style Settings plugin, is so lovely. You can customize the look and feel quickly without hunting for deeply nested selectors in the inspector to use in custom CSS snippets.

And the seamless embed option is excellent if you're like me and use transcludes everywhere. Great work, Akifyss, and co.!

@emory @erik @obsidianmd that looks very promising. I'm still into LYT Mode by @nickmilo but it still lacks a light mode. I like the colorfulness of it.

I guess I have to have a closer look into Border Theme and Style Settings. Maybe I will create a themed vault template (could that be a thing, @StefanTSiegel ?)

Will jemand aus Berlin meinen alten Monitor übernehmen?

Ist ein Dell U2719DC, kann alle üblichen Anschlüsse incl. USB-C und hat nen eingebauten USB Hub. Originalkarton und Rechnung sind vorhanden.

Oben in der Mitte gibt es einen kleinen Sprung, der aber das Arbeiten null stört (siehe Fotos). Sonst einwandfrei (habe für höhere Auflösung upgegraded).

Nur Abholung, Preis Verhandlungssache.
