Arrgh, Outlook!

"This message couldn't be sent right now. Click for more details."

'More details', Outlook, should mean more details of why the message couldn't be sent. It doesn't mean 'show me the same error message but this time with the full text of the email'. I just finished typing the email. I already know what it says. Tell me what went wrong!

demoographics,

@dwm @simontatham at a previous job I had a python script to sync between and Outlook calendar and google calendar; with that done the IMAP support was BALGE for me.

[I'm quite glad I no longer have to do this!]

Sometimes I wonder what the point of the Labour opposition is? This bill is truly awful, but "Labour has indicated that it will not block the bill, with local elections looming and the government hoping for a confrontation over the scheme."

Sunny icy morning crossing the Spree to get to Ostbahnhof this morning

No full thread today - I’m just taking ICEs to Bruxelles

@jon I enjoyed the DB app offering me alternatives to my cancelled train with a "please check your ticket is valid on these trains before travelling". I mean come off it, it knows what my ticket is, so it must be able to answer that question better than I can!

I've made it to Amsterdam Central, with plenty of time before my next train to Berlin. Thankfully, the lounge has free wifi :-)

Handy work for the weekend done: the 1999 Birdy Red is ready for adventures this year 🙂

New front wheel
New rim of rear wheel (and yeah, I rebuilt the wheel)
New chain guard
New back tire

Everything cleaned and tightened up

Detail of back wheel and stand
Detail of new front wheel
Home made luggage rack (that was built in 2022) and new back rim and tire

Like all sensible people, I have strong feelings about the correct place for the comma in 'God rest ye merry, gentlemen'.

And every year at the old place I used to tweet about this important topic.

But now such exertions are redundant, by reason of this fine video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxfxy-3dGz0

(Btw, the correct place for the comma is after 'merry' - and if you disagree, you are wrong.)

Gods rest ye merry, followers.

demoographics,
@demoographics@toot.bike avatar

@davidallengreen arguably it should be "you" not "ye" ("ye" being nominative not accusative)...

Now that a lot of original is on iplayer, what should I watch (assume I don't have time to watch all 150-odd episodes)? I saw all the new-Who when it came out, and I think as a child I started watching somewhere in the Colin Baker era...

Also if Latvia and Lithuania DO manage to re-establish a passenger train connection, that will leave only 2 internal borders of the EU where there are rail lines but there are no passenger services

🇫🇮 🇸🇪 Tornio-Haparanda

demoographics,

@jon I keep hearing rumours that the Finland-Sweden line will get passenger trains again, but it feels like one of those "around the time of widespread IPv6 deployment" things that never quite happens :-/

I'm writing a tutorial at work about git-first packaging of software (i.e. take upstream repo, produce a suitable tree that our CI can build .debs from, no quilt or source packages needed). I thought GNU Hello would be a nice simple example to work with.

I was wrong - git submodules (never a good idea), a bootstrap script that installs git hooks that complain about commit messages (and interact badly with emacsclient), and a submodule test suite that gets confused if run inside CI :(

Question ONLY for followers of mine using Android, Windows and Linux

What apps are you using to access Mastodon? Are they free? And would you recommend them to others?

And on Windows and Linux are the apps significantly better than the Mastodon advanced web interface for you?

(I know the Mac / iOS app environment well already)

demoographics,

@jon I use tusky (Free Software) on Android, which is pretty good (on linux desktop, I use the web UI).
