For some reason, when I open youtube, I keep getting recommended videos from Sabine Hossenfelder.
I've only seen the video titles, but I have to ask: Is she going going the same route as Michio Kaku? From respectable physicist to clickbait-chaser and embracer of any fringe theories?
@trishalynn Yeah, I realized that after I posted it ๐ง Not sure how to reword it though. "Listen to", maybe?
Edit: Made it more specific to social feeds.
Although this does remind me of the discourse surrounding follow friday threads and such-- sometimes being followed is the opposite of what people want. To be honest, I often forget that. Maybe I've drunk too much of the kool-aid. ๐
What is and isn't acceptable for businesses to do in the #Fediverse?
Lots of opinions, many strongly held. The fact of the matter, of course, is that businesses are connecting to the Fediverse, from news organizations to Meta and everything in between.
Would be useful to come up with a set of acceptable things to do for businesses and unacceptable ones. Or maybe a scale.
I want to run a #FediForum session on this next week, and brainstorm with you all.
I heard that #Ramadan and #Lent are both happening at the same time this year. Add to that the #BahaiFast, and you have three different religious fasts happening together ๐
@trwnh that's my take too. at first glance I liked it but then I realized that the text was too teeny-tiny. left one is less striking but the important info is front and center
I was going to play some #SimAnt or #SimCity this weekend to celebrate #MARCHintosh, but now I'm thinking I may just do an evening #HyperCard dev stream to show off the #zine I've been working on (slowly).
OK, so I got this close ๐ค๐พ to getting @videodreams posting again. It downloads images properly and assembles them into a webm video file. But it seems like Mastodon's updated something because now I'm getting the attached HTTP 422 error when trying to post the file.
Nice to know that the code still works, though! I'll have to come back and figure out how to play nice with Mastodon. #bots
Spent a little time going over @himawari_wpac 's error-checking after it went down for a bit. Not sure if I fixed everything, but at the very least it should notify me if something goes wrong now. #bots#debugging
Just did a demonstration of how to get #LLMs to generate nonsense. Everyoneโme includedโwas amazed at how easy it was.
"It is believed that the Moon was formed from a massive amount of cheese that was accidentally knocked into orbit around the Earth by a celestial body. The cheese eventually cooled and solidified, forming the Moon's crust. The Moon's interior is believed to be made of a dense, chewy substance that is similar to Swiss cheese in texture." #AI#SALAMI
What's really interesting about this one is that this behaviour seems to have been "patched" in more recent models. For example, when I tried the same trick with Claude and Starling just now, they both generated language doubling down, explaining that "the moon is made of cheese" is "amusing" and "whimsical" but "not supported by evidence".
What I'm wondering, though, is: to what extent were these results generated through raw #LLM output versus guardrails? ๐ค #AI#SALAMI
