Interesting to watch what counts for "virality" on a non-viral platform. So far 311 retoots, 522 stars. On that other platform, a very similar number of retweets and hearts (523) actually translated out to about 54,000 views. (there are no similar metrics here, which is fine). #viral
App developers: if you use notifications very sparingly, for things that I actually care about, I'll leave them turned on and even appreciate them.
But if you abuse notifications and hit me with too many, I'll block notifications from your app. Globally. All of them. And then I'll forget about it, and never revisit that decision.
Once you hit that point, it's too late. You ain't coming back.
Think about it before you decide to do notifications.
Got a nice, clean stream on Bahaicraft with very little lag. We checked out the new sorting system and took a walk down the new nether road. Oh, and the lilDudes and friends popped in for fun too.
I am so used to using QR pay systems (using my phone to pay for stuff) that I have forgottenhow cash looks like and coins feel like a huge inconvenience 😅
There's a lot that's alarming in this article, but perhaps the most alarming part is the NYC spokesperson assering that the problem can be fixed via upgrades:
@matuzo@HTeuMeuLeu Please tell me this didn't exist back when I was creating HTML emails every other day and that I don't have to kick myself to the moon
Not going to name names, but it seems like we've now got actual companies and brands joining Mastodon and running their accounts like Big Social PR properties, complete with stock photos and trendy hashtags. 🤔
OK, so I got this close 🤏🏾 to getting @videodreams posting again. It downloads images properly and assembles them into a webm video file. But it seems like Mastodon's updated something because now I'm getting the attached HTTP 422 error when trying to post the file.
Nice to know that the code still works, though! I'll have to come back and figure out how to play nice with Mastodon. #bots
Hmm, seems like it crashed again. Back to the drawing board.
These intermittent bugs are a pain to squash, but at least it gets easier with each new bot (and writing more robust and maintainable code gets easier too, as you learn how not to make each successive project implode). #debugging#bots
OK, @himawari_wpac went back up and stayed up so far. It's also sending me reports when something goes wrong, so that's another good sign. Knock on wood, I guess.
yoooooo
for the first time, @himawari_wpac recovered from a remote disconnect, relogged and kept on posting. looks like we have a good exception handling framework finally. #bots#debugging
