I feel like I'm beating a dead horse but here's the day 7 installment of my winter photo advent calendar thingy. No digital filter was used on this photo. All the special effects are courtesy of the crappy camera (a Coronet Flashmaster bakelite camera from the 1950's) and my sloppy film developing technique. You're welcome.

It's day 5 of my self-imposed Winter Photo Advent Calendar thingy. I'm pretty sure I shot this using one of those crappy, plastic, 35mm film cameras with the little Panorama/Normal toggle. It was so cold, the other cameras I had with me just froze.

If you live in the Waterloo Region (as in Ontario, Canada), you should recognize this covered bridge.

Just to have something to motivate myself to post some photos, I've set myself to do a winter photo advent calendar type thing. Hopefully I have 24 winter photos that I like enough to share here. We'll see how it goes.

This is one of my favourite winter photos. Took it with my beloved Hasselblad 500C/M on some random expired film years ago. I entered it in a very non-prestigious photo contest once and I won a camera bag lol.

  1. Went out for a walk even though I wasn't feeling it. Burned even more calories than I did yesterday, apparently.

  2. Made a cottage pe for dinner even though I didn't really feel like cooking and it was decent.

  3. Norway road trip plan is beginning to come together after some budget and maximum driving time adjustment.

  1. Burned more than 300 calories on today's walk (according to Fitbit, whose accuracy is questionable at best).

  2. The spousal unit upped the driving time limit to a maximum of four hours so maybe I can finally make some progress in the Norway road trip planning.

  3. A day of not cooking. Went on a cheap burger date at Harvey's for dinner. Yay for coupons!

This is my favourite autumn photo I've ever shot on film, taken with my favourite camera and film combo (Hasselblad 500C/M and Kodak Portra 400UC).

  1. Went for a post-lunch walk again.I think my walking speed is almost back to normal/pre-Ireland trip speed. (All the walking I did in Ireland really did a number on my legs.)

  2. The books I ordered from my favourite bargain book store last week are here! Most of them are holiday presents for the spousal unit but two of them are mine. It feels good not to order books from Amazon.

  3. Finally placed with a group of less motivated people in the Diamond League on . I shall try to at least finish third this week.

  1. Was motivated enough to go for a walk after lunch.

  2. Was also motivated enough to make our favourite overnight bread dough before going to bed.

  3. Coffee Crisp ice cream bar. I think I enjoy it more than the Yukon bar. (Sorry, Canadian reference.)

Stopped at random pebble beaches by Lake Huron and took a bunch of photos of local vegetation (most of the photos are crap bur that's beside the point). I love the shadow on this one.

firda, to 3goodthings

  1. Got almost 8 hours of sleep last night. A rarity.

  2. Baked a banana bread just to be somewhat productive. Mixed in some leftover Halloween chocolates instead of chocolate chips because why not.

  3. Dishwasher was loaded up and started. The kitchen's once again looking half decent.

  1. A lovely daytrip to the shore of Lake Huron. We experosun, rain, and snow along the way but it was lovely by the lake.

  2. Had a lot of fun taking photos with my new camera. I might have got my photo mojo back.

  3. Maple cinnamon roll. So good!

  1. Went for a post-lunch walk and burned a lot of calories.
  2. Made Thai chicken and pineapple curry for the first time ever for dinner, and I really liked it.
  3. The spousal unit got me the new Fitbit Charge 6 and I love it.

Morning! Woke up too early and couldn't go back to sleep but I seem to have got over the stomach bug or whateiver it was, so there's that.

The post with photos from the pumpkin parade last night must've made it to Explore at some point. Is it lame to feel a bit pleased with myself? My camera was acting up throughout the event. Pain in the butt.

firda, to Halloween

I was determined that my stomach issue wasn't going to stop me from submitting my crappy pumpkin creations (top left photo) to our town's annual pumpkin this evening, though mostly because I didn't want to deal with their disposal. All these were to be transported to a boars farm just outside town after the parade to be used as feed.

Anyway, my pumpkin carvings were definitely not the best in town, but I'm happy to report, they weren't the worst either. 👍

Focus on three carved pumpkins of fantasy characters.
A group of carved pumpkin, mostly regular Jack O'Lantern.
Focus on a carved pumpkins of a cartoon bear face.

Today is Tuesday, 31 October 2023 (Halloween!)

  1. Got some fruits and vegetables in me. I'm really bad at this.

  2. Got 18 trick-or-treaters. More than I'd expected to get but not enough to put a dent on the candy supply. I don't know if more candies for us is a good thing but more candies for us!

  3. Our car had a tire change today and is now ready for winter. We're expecting snow flurries tonight.

Anyone have a account? I'd like to offer our instance as a landing pad to Canadian users since they're shutting down tomorrow.

firda,

@mike a bunch of us just signed up with https://pebble.social. 🙂

firda,

@mike I'm not really committed to it. Gabor calling it "an experiment" is not really very assuring.

These are my pumpkin creations for this year. They are whatever you want to call them. Whatchamacallit and Thingamajig are what I call them. I'm no artist. They are Good Enough™️ or, to quote the Spousal Unit, Not Horrible™️. They were originally going to be cats, but things happened. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is one of my favourite photos I've ever taken with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye box camera from the 50's. I have several of this camera. Some of them only take 620 film and I would have to re-spool a roll of 120 film to a 620 spool so it would fit in the camera before shooting with it. The things I used to be willing to do to shoot film! 🤣

@t2pub Is it just me or has stopped loading posts in its homepage?

firda,

@MLISrevenge @t2pub Seem to have fixed itself now.

Helene, to random French

@firda could you please add @chifumi to the T2 guppy ?

firda,

@Helene @chifumi @MLISrevenge started and maintains the the group, not me. 🙂

firda,

@Helene @chifumi @MLISrevenge I think all you have to do is follow @t2pub and start tagging @T2Pub in your posts that you want members of the group to see.

If you want more of an old-school Tweetdeck look, go into Settings > Appearance and check the box for the "Enable advanced web interface" option.

firda,

@Jiriki @prysmcat @MLISrevenge I just created a List called Pebblers and added all the Pebblers I'm following to the list. That way I just need to go to the Pebblers list feed to read their posts, whether they're tagged with or not. Not ideal but works for me.

Thinking of moving to another instance. Universeodon seems slower than I remember. Not sure which instance to move to, though.
