@jake4480 well there’s usually a review or two a day of something I don’t like on Angry Metal Guy so that’s around 30 a month. Add most of what Pitchfork, Under the Radar, etc reviews and Bandcamp recommendations and it’s probably close to 200. Yeah Vocals are big to determinate.
@rasterweb still shitty, still disposable. A fad. Black metal bands love them too. Selling mine before the bottom falls out. CDs are still less expensive to make.
I did manage a 5.28 mile ride this morning before the rain. It’s been a while, felt good to get out there again. (I also reported a bunch of potholes to the city.)
@rasterweb wasn’t trying to shame or even motivate you to do more. I do it pretty seriously, 2000 miles a year. Do what works for you. Not a competition, or so I tell myself when the 25 year olds blow past me. All that matters is that you’re out doing something.
@jake4480@wendigo I like Sebadoh but they were one of the worst live bands I’ve ever seen. The Dino Jr, My Bloody Valentine show in the 90s was so loud I left, it was unbearable.
@jake4480 Cuphead, Elden Ring all the endings 100% it crazy… he’s done with any Mario new title in a weekend if that. I play Mario because I can finished those.
There are good people still making for profit software. Rogue Amoeba apps are top notch and have been for years. I find their tools essential for my audio needs. Mac only, which I’m sure people will bitch about but there was a time where it was the norm on a Mac to have great small company apps that were Mac only. #RogueAmoeba#apple#Mac#rogueamoebasoftware
How is this worth $300,000,000? How will they make that money back? I'd say Simmons & Stanley have done pretty well out of that deal. There’s no money to be made from the royalties, they’re banking on the IP. I can think of only three Kiss songs and they all suck. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/kiss-sells-catalog-name-logo-makeup/
@Doctor_J_ well all of these deals are questionable. Kiss is huge globally regardless of your take on them. So I’m guessing this has something to do with the VR Kiss (same company did the ABBA thing). Give it a couple years and wham demand and back catalogue, licensing. Now you’re never going to get back that number…
Strangely, I owned no death metal on vinyl until last night. I ordered the Degraved EP from last year, Whispered Morbidity. It's one of my favorite metal releases ever (and now there's only 1 left, you can grab the last one here - https://degraved.bandcamp.com/album/whispered-morbidity)
It should arrive by the end of the month. It's this beautiful blue/teal kind of vinyl. This is the stock photo from the site. 😍 Will get photos when it arrives of the whole deal, cover, etc.
@wendigo@jake4480 That is probably the weirdest idea ive heard in a while. I have a friend that runs a record store and he gets people selling vinyl that was never played, they just used the download code or streaming. It was decoration for them.
They should do a version of the show "The Price Is Right" but have all boomers as contestants and have them try to guess the prices of the basics needed to survive in the modern age.
@rasterweb it’s a class issue. Although I’m probably a target for being a contestant I buy things so I know what they cost. Some quality joke material there.
I’m not offended by boomer, I just don’t care for generational stereotypes. You know like GenX is lazy.
@rasterweb@roo_44 agreed, I work with a lot them. Know a bunch of Y’s as my kid is one. His friends are all pretty damn impressive but they’re all still in school.
Anyone have something you tried to post not show up for you, but it clearly posted and shows up for other people? It had no hashtags, wouldn't be muted - I had figured my instance blocked or rejected it because it was about Russia. I even tried posting it again, and I couldn't see either one. But now I know they actually DID post, only since someone replied to one. WEIRD.
