@fosstodon Im having some trouble accessing the @masto.globaleas.com instance from Fosstodon. I checked with the admin and he says that it’s on your end. Is there any way we can fix the 503 error?

So, the @fosstodon web client apparently doesn't know how to behave with the server.

I keep getting the client complaining it's been rejected by the server:
> Rate limited
> Please retry after 11:30:00 AM.

Rate limiting makes sense. But why, then, does the web client (which was served by Fosstodon, to my browser) not arrive knowing the rate limit and that it should not attempt when there'll be an error response?

Please configure the web client so it doesn't predictably invoke frequent errors.

@bignose The rate limit is per account. You shouldn't run into it unless you have multiple tabs or multiple mobile clients on your device. If you're seeing it often, see if you've got more than a few tabs with Fosstodon open.

@AudraTran Hey! @carrotcypher did a little research on this. Zoom (like Discord, Slack, etc) tries to get you to download the client when you try to join a call, but if you click on "Join call" you'll see another link "Join from browser" appear. We're obviously not fans of Zoom or Google, but functionally they seem to work the same in browser in this regard without needing any additional software installed.

There have been some reports of problems uploading images to when using . Is anybody else experiencing this?

@nowster Additional information came in after that post. If they have Qutebrowser tiled with another window or maximized, it works. If it's tiled on it's own window it fails without error.

Anyone else on Fosstodon able to upload an image via their webbrowser ? I can on the Tusky Android app but not with Qutebrowser all of a sudden. 🤔

@JustineSmithies I did a quick test of an image upload in #Qutebrowser here on Fosstodon, and it didn't have any issues that I could see. Is it giving an error message of some kind?

@JustineSmithies That's very weird. I've never heard of anything like that. I put up a thread to the community and I'm looking for responses to see if anybody else has noticed it. When I did my test I didn't have Qutebrowser maximized or tiled in any way.

Unbelievable! The @fosstodon moderators have suspended the @djangonews account/bot for spam. Incredible community resource, oh let’s block it. What world are these people on? No-one has to follow it, if you don’t like the posts. Utterly backwards.

@carlton The @djangonews account wasn't blocked/suspended, it was temporarily frozen for posting advertising. After speaking to the owner of the account, the account has been restored in full.
