Y’all season 2 of “Space: 1999” … I haven’t seen this series really since I was a kid watching it on TV. Like I tried to watch it before as an adult but couldn’t get through more than a few minutes.

@christianselig I’m finally about out of my accumulated time from being an Alien Blue tester/user. I’ve turned off auto renew after the manner in which they handled third party apps. I have also cut my usage way back since then.

Mastodon v4.2.8 has just been released.

On this release Mastodon changes the default registration mode to being closed. Meaning that if you have never changed the registration mode for your server, it will be closed by default.

Also, it introduces a feature that will "automatically require approval for new registrations in the absence of moderators". Meaning that if no user with moderation permission has accessed the server in one week, the registration mode changes to require manual approval.

Just want to point out that only 2% of (presumed) heterosexuals that were polled said they would never watch a rom-com that featured a lady blacksmith.

Since the beginning of the recent spam attack https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/111953045633249137, I have been monitoring Masto.host and, when possible, taking action to mitigate the effects of this attack.

All actions I made should have minimal impact. Still, in cases where that was not so I have communicated those actions to the admins. So, if you have not received my email, no action was taken on your server.

@shep There used to be a pad you could place the mouse on and replace the battery with a proprietary rechargeable battery. This was pre Qi chargers so I have no idea if that is still a thing. It was pretty nice though.

I meant o post this Saturday, but my life is a little bit out of sorts as I adjust to my new life circumstances. I was a real nail bitter of a game and I was not sure we would win. It all came down to the last half of the fourth quarter. Wow, what a finish! 😅

I’m trying to find the developer of the broadcasts app. It allows you to listen to online radio stations, and you can somehow add stations but I can’t figure out how to do it with Voiceover so I was trying to find him. Anyone know who that is? I know my brother told me but I forgot who it was.

As an admin of a small Fediverse server, I might as well talk about my approach to federation.

Generally, I defederate servers that I observe to engage in illegal or harassing behaviour. And I say observe because I don’t blindly trust blocklists. Sometimes a server may wind up on a blocklist, address the problem that caused it to be on that blocklist, and yet still remain on that blocklist.

I generally don’t receive terrible content on my server because I am the most active user here, I follow a small amount of people, and I only follow folks who’ve built a relationship of trust with me.

That said, I can’t predict when someone will do something illegal. Hence why I don’t allow anyone to view this server’s remote profiles and timelines unless you’re logged in. Since only two people, including me, have accounts on atomicpoet.org, remote profiles and timelines have been hidden from public view.

If someone engages in untoward behaviour, my policy is as follows:

  1. Alert the offender, ask them to change their ways
  2. If that doesn’t work, alert the server admin, and see if this results in change
  3. If that doesn’t work, defederate

Funny enough, when I reach step 2, the admin often defederates me before I defederate them. This saves me work.

Finally, I don’t mention why I defederate a server. I don’t frankly need a reason to defederate. My reasons are my reasons.
