I think fireworks are pretty but have always hated the noise and pollution.
They're also really hard on folks with ptsd and on animals. They're freaking out Hank and the goats. They do the same to wildlife.

On the other hand, you could have families like mine, one parent with a high school diploma, one with college, in poverty. It was easier to be working or middle class in the olden days, but we weren't homogenous.

    Ages ago my partner was all "why own stuff anymore?" so last time we moved, we handed down a bunch of physical . Now I'm definitely going to replace it. I don't even own a device that plays discs now, but I'm going to get one and then keep the discs backed up onto drives.

    I like so much of what Biden has done, but he's also disappointed me hard. Finding the balance so that he is earning my vote is a challenge. This year, he'll just be more likely to beat Trump than available options. And being as California isn't a swing state, I'm not against a protest vote. (If you're in a swing state, please remember Trump Is Worse.)

    Also? Articles like these (or maybe the polls?) don't mean much to me at this level of vagueness, without some reasons or context. The primary thing I'm getting is that rural folks aren't paying much attention to what's happening wrt DoT, and I hate to wonder, but is Pete the best messenger, or would they be as nasty about a straight person that isn't a Trump loyalist?

    @Frances_Larina I'm not sure I get it — not the concept, just how it makes the 3rd party look ignored. For me, a protest vote would be voting for Cornell West instead of Biden.

    • whom I wouldn't vote for unless he were the only option against Trump, because I think being president requires political experience, but mostly because I so strongly disagree with his Ukraine stance.

    Regardless, I'd love it if we had ranked choice, so I could vote for whom I like best first.

    @Frances_Larina I think not having a parliamentary structure also helps, combined with the EC. I'll not sure that was intentional at the beginning. There's no good way for a smaller party to have any power at all, coalitions don't happen to speak of. Instead, we have (for instance) MAGA within the GOP rather than two parties, or SocDems within Dems. They have voices perhaps, but when the crunch comes they need to follow party rules rather than take their power elsewhere.

    My wife called FedEx office about getting a sign printed for work. They said normally they'd do it in five minutes, but they are overloaded with 30 49ers signs and 50 (!) Taylor Swift signs.
