I used Mutti to refer to myself and was told it was an unusual older term to use.

Is that true? Might it be a generational difference? Or a difference between regions?

@joy As far as I know it is mostly a regional thing. Mutti is the usual word for mom in the northeast of Germany, or roughly the northern half of what used to be the GDR. It will sound strange to people in the South of Germany, though.

@pallenberg Grundsätzlich gut, aber kurzes grünes Gras ist empfindlich. In Karlsruhe gibt es theoretisch auch grüne Gleisbetten, aber irgendwann im Hochsommer kommen dann welche von der Stadt und mähen das grüne Zeug raspelkurz, und zwei Tage später ist da nur noch gelbbraunes Stoppelfeld, bis es im Herbst wieder regnet. Man muss sowas auch zuendedenken.

Found these old church organ pipes in an antiques shop in Hebden Bridge today. There was only a small selection so I was stood there a while blowing down them trying to decide which I liked most. They do sound lovely but I don't have a useful enough selection to be worth building something to play them, so will be mostly ornamental.
