Sorry for the increasing boosts on "how to" and "first steps in the Fediverse". As most of you are already real veterans of the Fediverse (hi from a semi-novice XD) these are probably not at all interesting for you, but thought I might try to boost all of this stuff for people who're new here :3

Wishing you all a great day and lots of fun on social media which hopefully keeps on being more about social interaction and sharing of different ideas than toxic dumping on others.

A big hello and welcome to all the new people who've joined the past couple of days. It's great to have you here!

Our admins are @ada and @supakaity.
Ada leads the front of house and moderation side of Blåhaj Zone, while Kaity leads the back-end and maintains Hajkey for us & a small group of other instances.

Our server runs a fork of that we call (pron. hi-key). A summary of the features unique to Hajkey.

Here's the link to our Community Documents such as our Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.

If you're wanting to migrate from a account, here's a step by step instruction guide for moving to Blahaj.zone.

We also have a server available for signups at https://lemmy.blahaj.zone and a server that's soon to be open, for those looking for - like communities. They can also be interacted with from here or other places in the Fediverse.

I'm neither a mod nor admin here, but am happy to help if I can. I've written this about how the five main timelines work and this popular post about .

In case people are surprised about the increasing amount of boosts on German posts here: I am German (yes, yes :blobcat_nod:) and some of my German (queer) pals found their way to the Fediverse! :blobcat_attention: Therefore, I've also got a lot more lovely German content I can boost.

If you're not familiar with German and would like to know about a specific post, feel free to ask and I can try to give you the gist of it. I do try to translate some stuff to English, but unfortunyately, my brain's not always the most cooperative.

Wish you all a great day and hey, if you're reading this already, feel free to check out Miri's (@zusensibel) cover of "This Love" by Maroon 5: https://youtu.be/45aZoHop2Wg Like, subscribe and comment (only if you want to of course, but I bet, you'll want to after listening to it)! :blobcat_heart:

It's nice having children around to remind myself of the fact that a) I really never want to have some of my own and b) I can spend some time with these little bundles of joy nonetheless - as long as the time's limited XD

Reddit info pouring in
-> reviving my Lemmy acc on feddit: "It's nice here."
-> Info on Lemmy pouring in
-> Rage quit: "Why can't we have nice things from non-shitty people?!"
-> goes on to create a kbin acc (This better be non-shitty or I am gonna lose my shit)

Hey folks, I wanna do a for us - even if you're not chatty about trans stuff! If you're comfortable being named on the post, shout and I'll make a lil masterpost later - I don't want to out anyone or put them on the spot

jade,

@inherentlee :blobcat_peekwave: Hello, hello. If you want to, you can add me. Really nice of you to do that :trans_fire:

The more pedestals continue to topple, the more I question putting people on them in the first place.

jade,

@Uraael Putting people on pedestals is never healthy as in the end they are still just as human and fallible as every one else. To admire someone for certain attributes you long to incorporate into your own being is normal and can lead to wonderful outcomes.

Thinking someone to be better than and something entirely different from you is nothing more than you trying to fill a hole in yourself that is not supposed to be filled by anyone other than yourself.

jade,

@Uraael The problem does lie in the system that benefits a few powerful people while oppressing everynyan else. It's not as if men do not suffer from the same patriarchy that women do - problem being though that it treats both genders in different ways AND on top of it all tries to establish that there's only two genders in general with one being subservient to the other.

We'd all be better off without this system that plants a certain kind of mindset into even the youngest of us, yet those in (finyancial) power still manyage to get everynyan to look at each other and see THEM as the enemy when it's all those societal structures that we've grown up with and the beliefs AND fears we've been fed. It's not Men vs Women or Women vs Men, it's All vs Patriarchy.

Programs that were dedicated to educating boys who were taught to exert control and violence over girls did yield surprisingly great results and showed how we need to start at the beginning, teaching those growing up a new way of viewing society and gender. That's why the pushback from those "old forces" is also THIS great when we're talking about more rights and less discriminyation for everynyan. It'd be a system in which they'd be unyable to do whatever they want without repercussions.

jade,

@uzayran .....How the fuck can anyone think that this would be a good idea? Didn't we already have those racist chatbots to look to when it comes to AI not being great at working without any human supervision?

Radical_EgoCom, to random

Schrödinger's Worker

jade,

@Radical_EgoCom The only way the system works is by keeping people thinking it CAN work for them - as long as they put in "the right input". People just point at others, saying "look at them, THEY are doing fine, so you could, too!" when it's actually by design that the system we have now needs the poor and "produces" them willingly. It is working the way it's been designed to, but as long as you keep everyone believing we are all gonna make it (if you just put in a little bit more of the "right work"), these kinds of absurd things will keep on happening.

jade, to random

Honestly, when people go all "Look at how dumb these climate deniers, racists, etc. are!" and "How can anyone believe this?! This is hilarious!" I just feel my heart sinking.

I don't think it's funny. It's making me feel terrified. It doesn't matter why people believe these things. They do. And no matter how ridiculous their beliefs might be; they have real world consequences. And the stupider and more detached from reality people's beliefs become, the more I feel like something in me is slowly dying.

Some part of me has simply started to accept that as human beings we are just very strange creatures.

jade, to random

We've got 8000 characters now?! OMG, you're spoiling us queer folk! :blobfoxaww:

jade,

@Uraael Thanks then? :blobcat_blepclose: Was so surprised when the Milktea App showed 8000 characters for this account and then went back to check on the Browser and wowza! And I WILL use these characters. I am just such a blabbermouth :abunhdowohop:

jade, to random

People just favoriting and sharing a post that contains little more than a screenshot of a supposed article without checking where the content comes from, doesn't bode well for the future with deepfakes and increasing use of AI. Sure, not everything printed in magazines or traditional news media necessarily has to be well-researched, but at least try to do SOME due diligence before spreading information that might be important for others to be true or not.

So what is it I'm doing wrong, then, when three friends of mine whose partners all tragically died are now all actively pursuing new relationships and I'm....still as single as I was before those tragedies?

Okay, it's been a tough few years and I've had a LOT to process (not quite on the scale of losing a loved one, but still...), and for a large chunk of that I did take myself "off the market" but I'm kind of ready now I think (I hope) and...nothing?

There's the lady at work I have the crush on that's a complete dead-end non-starter please god why this crush. And...that's it.

STUDY
How have these friends done it?

  1. It emerged via a social group she's involved with
  2. He bumped into her at a car boot sale. No, not literally.
  3. He has literally walked up to a woman in a shop and asked her out, and now has her number and is meeting her for coffee this week.

ANALYSIS
Socialise. (Be more social)(in Meatspace, I mean)
Take Risks.

...Damn it.

Okay then. Alright, Universe. If that's what I need to do then that's what I'll do.

jade,

@Uraael If that's what you want to go for, then go for it. I'm gonna be here cheering for you and hope you'll find what you're looking for :ablobfoxbongo:

My partner is getting her hair dyed and cut as well and im just waiting for her to be done before we go to a cafe :3

Heres a selfie of my new cut (sry for unshaven face)

Same boy, showcasing the other side of his head

@endali The cut's looking great and you're looking great in general!

Still caught in the impressions of yesterday's semi-final, though. I must say, I'm quite confused by several media reports that I've seen today - stuff like "Sweden and Finland being the favourites" (seriously? I mean... Sweden?) or the Swiss press claiming that it was not wonder that Remo Forrer had reached the finals, "given the competition". Quite a flame, and I would say not correct. Seems the local journalists in Basel are not very good with music. ;)

jade,

@s_unter WHAAAAT?! This has been so great so far! Journalists need some fresh blood amongst them (plus a lot more queerness) if they think "it's underwhelming".

jo, to fediverse

Gargron and his merry bunch of centralists are absolutely wrong about this. He's turned into the biggest enabler of birdsite culture because his service has been the biggest benefactor of it. It's kind of sad & boring that some folks only see the in terms of a birdsite alternative.

Can't wait for the BDFL to fully shrug off the pretend and go all Elno on us. 🙄

RE: https://calckey.social/notes/9eiyhe19jb

jade,

@jo I mean...he's effectively saying that people are looking for something identical to Twitter - just not with the branding. Which is why Bluesky exists and thrives. Not like people don't understand that.

Don't know what the "revolutionary take" here is supposed to be other than: "It's good for instances to exist that can turn into the next Twitter." which is...worrisome to say the least.
