@seldo I ran into this this morning; it was jarring. Then when I logged out again, I got this for every subsequent twitter page load. The decline is definitely accelerating 🙄

They're finally taking the step of decentralization.

Many people will naysay this. But it's absolutely better that they move to decentralization than not do it.

@atomicpoet glad to see it! The first attempts at a new thing can take a while to work out, so I was getting worried that since they hadn’t started this already, it could get deprioritized. I’ll be keeping my eye on their progress.

Is anyone able to do a hashtag search for on mastodon.social?

For some reason, when I do this, mastodon.social gives me an 404 error page. I've tried this while being logged in and out of mastodon.social.

Why is this happening?

Predictably, people hate Snapchat’s MyAI chatbot.

That’s because Snapchat, like the rest of Big Social, is trying to replace people’s friends with AI chatbots.

From Snapchat’s perspective, I understand the motive. If someone prefers to talk to AI chatbots, it’s that much easier to lock them into their platform.

Except most people still prefer their own friends—and they don’t like it when AI comes between them and the people they love

I'm starting to spec out a instance!

Right now I have more questions than concrete plans, though I think I will try to use something besides . And it will be a single or few-user instance, at least to start.

I'm curious what hot tips and cautionary tales people have as I get started? Anything I MUST or MUST NOT do? Or read?

@haubles mastodon is probably too bulky for a single user instance, so that’s a good call looking for something else.
I don’t have experiencing running either one, but recommend checking out akkoma and calckey for other fediverse server options.
