Good God. He wants $7 trillion to build an AI-driven biz. That is more than Microsoft & Google (throw in their Apple, too) market cap. What does this tell us? It is just not sustainable. It has a high cost. The craziness of replacing human labor with machines is priceless, tho. I now ask if this AI buzz can cure cancer and other critical illnesses. Can this free everyone to do art or travel and provide free housing and healthcare via UBI? This is pure madness.

I'm trying to convince the last friends I have left on Facebook, X, Threads, or BlueSky to join the Fediverse. Some have tried but felt a sense of loneliness. Nowadays, many people are so used to doing what algorithms suggest that they can no longer make independent choices.
My timeline here, on the other hand, is beautiful.
I see what I want, I follow people who post what I like, and no one tells me what I should do. Freedom may come with a "cost," but whatever it is, it's worth the effort. Always.

Let’s be clear. Palestinian journalists said this since Day 1 and those who believed them were ridiculed or called antisemitic.

Now the NYT confirms “Israel claims it protects civilians, but a NYT investigation found at least 200 times Israel dropped its most destructive bombs in areas it designated as safe for civilians in Gaza.”

That’s no accident—it’s policy. Where is the accountability?

    Untrue things people assume on me when I say my country has a right to defend my family and friends after nearly dying in a horrific massacre:

    1. That I think Palestinians are animals or lesser humans in any way.
    2. That I want people of other ethnicities to die (wtf is wrong with you?)
    3. That I think Jews were "chosen" and are somehow an elite (again, wtf?)
    4. That I am a blind supporter of my government (I went to 3 protests in Israel against Bibi just this year even though I live abroad)

    @nixCraft the same. Funny thing "sudo" means "I sweat" in spanish, which is kinda fitting.

    It is simply not possible to evacuate over one million people in 24 hours from the zone of attack in Gaza. The answer to horrific atrocities by Hamas cannot be collective punishment upon an entire population, 50 percent of which are children.

    @EyalL @georgetakei at this point? There is little room for anything else than a military intervention. But I do believe it would be better if this is led by the UN, a joint occupation by the arab neighbors. Israel should guard their border, but stay away, they are too blood thirsty right now.
    After that, I don't know, upholding a well constituted Palestinian state would certainly help.

    @EyalL @georgetakei yes, but option B and option A are actually option A+B. Hamas will continue attacking Israeli civilians no matter what. Even if Hamas is completely destroyed, more gazans will be radicalized and continue attacking Israel.

    There are only wrong options at this point.

    @SocialistStan @Radical_EgoCom I really don't know how any social structure wouldn't need to enforce a hierarchy to regulate human conduct. Even a completely horizontal organization requires a command structure and enforcement of rules. I'm not saying it's impossible, only that I don't see it.
    I.e. how can traffic lights work if no rules are enforced by a hierarchy? Why should I stop in a red light?
