@peturdainn I think that's a "suppository", at least it looks similar to what I sometimes got as a child when I occasionally had fever or was otherwise ill.

"At least 207,468 minors married in the US between 2000 and 2015, according to data compiled by Unchained At Last, a group campaigning to abolish child marriage [..] The youngest wedded were three 10-year-old girls in Tennessee who married men aged 24, 25 and 31 in 2001. The youngest groom was an 11-year-old who married a 27-year-old woman"

wasn't it Google who didn't want us to use the name as a verb?

I'll google it later

@openglx

I think many mcmericans also use the term 'xerox' for that. We Europeans are a bit more product agnostic and typically say 'photocopy'.

However, there are plenty of exceptions. Eg in Germany a paper handkerchief is a 'Tempo' (brand name) :-)

Oh, this is cool: in Recursor, NOTIFY can now be used to trigger RPZ freshness checks or wipe any cache entries whose zones match the zone specified in the NOTIFY operation. (That last bit since 4.6)

Off topic, but for me related to the blog of Bert's I just posted is this absolutely glorious text which I periodically read to bring myself back to basics:

How Standard Ebooks serves millions of requests per month with a 2gb VPS; or, a paean to the classic Web

https://alexcabal.com/posts/standard-ebooks-and-classic-web-tech

"If we havenโ€™t shocked you with our deeply-questionable design decisions yet, this one might shock the younger developers out there most of all: no Javascript. Zero."

"Does your stuff need computers working 5,000 kilometers away? Does your stuff need people working on your product 5,000 kilometers away that you might no longer be able to reach?"

"So if your ship is on fire, and you need to call to the deck and say, โ€œHey, the ship is on fire,โ€ this thing will actually work, unlike your voice-over-IP setup"

so good! By @bert_hubert

One of the features I miss most on this platform is the ability to simply format text. Something like a stripped down version of Markdown: I don't expect links (nor do I think they'd be valuable, maybe too dangerous), but code blocks with non-proportional font would really be something I'd use.

jpmens,
@jpmens@mastodon.social avatar

@mpts there are Fediverse implementations which have it. https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/user_guide/posts/

jpmens,
@jpmens@mastodon.social avatar

@tdp_org @mpts I don't see any formatting in your post. ;)

I see it not. :-(
So it's rendered in elk instead of being converted to HTML. Sad.

jpmens,

@freyfogle

please forgive me for the incorrect phrasing. I should have muttered something about storing with two distinct MIME types which an intelligent client would use to select which to use.

But, to quote myself:
> I couldn't be bothered to.

Note that I did say the dangerous bits shouldn't be possible. No JavaScript shenannigans &c.
