And here, my position is simple:

"Harm?" My parents were harmed. Black men in the justice system are harmed. Cops often cause actual harm to people who look like us. We're harmed when people deny us jobs and economic freedom. That is HARM.

All of this Mastodon mess that I have seen is overwhelmingly mostly just nerds (myself absolutely included) going blah-blah back and forth and isn't real HARM. If it is, LOG OFF

The silliest thing about all the lies about @Are0h , is that they distract from important conversations about how to improve blocklists.

Someone will say some important criticism about blocklists, but then it'll be drowned out by 5 days of someone else saying "I heard Ro kicks puppies! But only white puppies! He's the real racist!" 🤡

This is like the 5th round of debunking.

At this point if you choose to believe the lies, it says more about you than it says about how convincing the lies are.

I do. I've seen big words from you, but I've seen reciepts from the other side, and it looks like you are a little too block happy.

I am not at all convinced that this extreme amount of blockage is making anything safer for non-white people; hardly any non-white people even know Mastodon EXISTS and blocking more instances probably won't help that.

it was just yesterday that I was clowning the corniness of Drake and Budden. never thought something would so quickly make me side with Drake

IMHO, except perhaps navigation, and maybe email but only because e.g Outlook has f***ed it up and we have less choice --

a good web app could easily replace all of these because there's little interactive heavy lifting. It's basically multimedia codecs or simple text. I mean, I do 2fa codes from the command line

Not to get too spicy, but "saying it repeatedly doesn't make it true" -- I do see it for some of your more complex applications, but, like you can't just blanket that kind of thing.

heck, I wrote my own rss reader in PHP and it's faster and easier than any app I've ever seen, and I don't code for a living.

Again, the "trust me" is weird. You are (to me at least) just wrong. I have seen web apps that are just fine.

Moreover, the overhead of installing yet another app is just often NOT worth it; especially since MANY apps don't just "do the thing, " they "Do the thing and harvest your info."

That was the "to me" part, sure. You may prefer how "real apps" operate in your experience, but seems to me you'd want to address the objectively true things:

They take up more space and more overhead, they're harder to audit, very frequently they're doing unintended/hidden/unreported data collection on users, and they can be limited by device/proprietary in harmful ways.

Generally an inferior idea all around.
