kentparkstreet,

@morgfair
I’ve forgotten how to tie shoelaces a few times. It’s real.

kentparkstreet, to auspol

Australia needs to reassess our alliance with a nation that no longer shares our values.

It’s one thing for a society to deliberately create unemployment, but when that society constantly insults the unemployed and compels them to live in poor quality and often dangerous housing and starves them of funds so they are excluded from normal life, that’s no longer a society.

The Reserve Bank wants more unemployment. It should be applauded for admitting it - ABC News

Crass Americans with too much money are moneywanking in front of a scientist, assuming that their impressive money will convince him to perform in a debate with barbarians. They believe that everyone else must love their big swinging money as much as they do, because it’s so big and money, they can’t understand that the scientist may have other motivations.

Why can’t they just send unsolicited dick pics like normal men?

Long covid brain fog is a real thing. I find myself accidentally typing their instead of there, not something I’d usually do, quite often. I wander between tenses and can’t find words, all stuff that mostly comes naturally to me.

The long term consequences are concerning.

There’s more than one crime going on here, and the decor is not the least of them.

kentparkstreet, to accessibility

I thought we had this sorted forty years ago.

People with disabilities just want access.

Italy is having a “family pride” month, the weirdo fascisty government thinks this somehow “counters” gay pride.

Where do they think the gay people come from? Born from eggs on mountain tops? Storks? Direct from the devil?

They come from families, like everyone else.

Why do we have to have this stupid argument over and over and over?

Outside an aged care home today another visitor asked me to show them how to take a rapid covid test. There was much hrrumphing and sighing. Finally done, I told them they had to wait 15 minutes before they could enter the home where all the frail and vulnerable people live.

They waited 2 minutes, once I looked away they were on the intercom saying they’d completed their test.

What an arsehole.

A clergyman did the same soon after.

Personal responsibility is going very well, isn’t it?

kentparkstreet,

@eniko
It’s hard to understand, because they’re visiting someone too. I think they don’t believe covid is a real problem. If they listen to our politicians I can understand why they think that.

kentparkstreet, to accessibility

I’m legally blind. I understand why people want descriptions of photos.

This is what I see when I try to add a description using the large text I require.

There is another app that does allow me to add a description, but it often doesn’t work.

So don’t get up me about not adding photo descriptions, lack of accessibility is a much bigger issue for me than it is for you.

It works or it doesn’t work. Why are disabled people expected to spend their lives fixing shit?

One of my favourite things on Twitter was , photographs of beauty in the normal stuff that’s around us and mostly goes unnoticed. People got it and shared brilliant shots of fences and grass and seagulls and hazy views, stuff they see every day and took a moment to appreciate.

I hope it will start up here too.

kentparkstreet,

@mastodonmigration @nellie_m
Not really a great call. I’m legally blind, the app I mainly use doesn’t do some stuff on large text, the other app I use to add descriptions wasn’t working when I posted this, so the judgement isn’t helpful. Accessibility.

God has sent a message to the people of Melbourne.

Now everyone gets to decide what that message was.

That’s how religion works.

kentparkstreet,

@tooheymatthew
I’m sure many will subscribe to the theory of the religion they grew up in, but we can all interpret the signs of deities however we like, there are clearly no rules.

kentparkstreet,

@tooheymatthew
In the US any lunatic can start a religion, and most do.

Definitely mainly a patriarchal system, it’s almost as if religion is out of step with modern society.

kentparkstreet,

@markusl @tooheymatthew
In some societies one religion is the basis of everything.

The term side hustle is another bullshit American con designed to pretend people aren’t just working extra hours to pay the bills. In Australia we once celebrated the eight hour day and the forty hour week, now we’re supposed to cheer on eight hours and some extra hours.
