Hey Fedi, I need help tracking down a website I yet again forgot to bookmark 🙄

It's a collection of badges to mark whether your content is AI-generated, made with the help of AI, or not touched by AI at all. It was CC0, and the logos features three points that would interconnect in different ways based on how much AI was used.

#Share2Fedi v3 is now live!

This version drops the Mastodon-centrism both in the name and in the functionality. You can now use it to share text posts to Misskey (+ flavours), Friendica, Hubzilla, and GNU Social! Also, thanks to Astro, you can self-host it anywhere

In the coming week, I'll add a ‘Share to Fediverse’ button to #Shareon. The v2 version is still available on the old domain, which will be phased out until the end of the year.

I have created bookmarks for often used localhost ports so that I can navigate to them or open them in new tabs/windows more quickly.

Bonus feature for Firefox users: You can set the port number as the bookmark shortcut, so that typing 8080<Enter> would instantly take you to 127.0.0.1:8080

A lifehack for @AntennaPod users!

1. Go to the app settings for AntennaPod
2. Go to “Open by default”
3. Make sure opening supported links is enabled and all links are selected

Now you can open Apple and Google #Podcast URLs in AntennaPod, which saves some steps when you want to add a new podcast :blobcatheadphones:

PSA for all #Android 13+ users:

Sometimes, when looking for an app in the Play Store, it will not show up in the search results. Going directly to the app's page will say that the app "was developed for an earlier version" and is thus "not available".

THIS IS BULLSHIT! There is nothing in the Android code that restricts installation and usage of these apps. If you have an APK file, it will install and run without issues.

Solution: Use Aurora Store!

I love listening to #podcasts, but it's not my number 1 source of entertainment. As such, I only get to listen to them when I can't watch videos or write code, which is usually my job commute. When I started working full-time, I finally got the opportunity to process my listening queue.

Well, 2024 hasn't been that productive, so far. I started working remotely, then I went on a holiday, and then I got sick, so I'm back to 100 episodes, 3+ days of listening 🙃

The thing that many naysayers fail to understand is that we are the ones in the bubble. We, a small portion of the Web, who hates centralisation and big corps. The rest of the world, the normies, do not care and will never care. For them, ease and clarity of use is of much bigger importance than privacy and public good. Why think about the complicated technical caveats of Fedi, when there's an app "all my friends and idols are on".

Over almost 15 years of watching YouTube, my sub feed has slowly evolved into mostly British-made videos. That, plus the fact that I didn't actually speak English for 6 years until late 2023, somehow made me speak in a very bad approximation of RP 😂 Like, even as I'm typing this post, my inner voice sounds British. And now that I actually do have to talk in English again, it feels very weird, because I can't really associate myself with the accent I now speak in 🥴

Last week, I was given the ‘opportunity’ to write some IE11-compatible #ECMAScript 5. No transpilers or bundlers, only a few polyfills.

At first, I was not excited for this. But at the end, I’ve had quite some fun! It was quite a nice challenge, and I’ve learned something new about the language I’ve been using every day for ages. Gotta do this more often.

PSA: If you use a piece of software, encounter a bug, and find out it was already reported, DO NOT comment with "I have the same issue" if you have nothing else to contribute. At the very least, add data that might be useful. ESPECIALLY DO NOT leave any comments if the maintainers already said "we are working on a fix".

My mailbox is dying under the load of all the people who have the same bug as me and also have the urge to comment about them having this bug 🙄
