Oh my word, the oregano is going bonkers this year. It is starting to take over the greenhouse. This is just a small fraction that was starting to block the doors.

Listen, if you're near Cupertino and want some for all your culinary or olfactory purposes, lemme know

Arrgggh Wayfair, you apparently do NOT have just what I need. I ordered this thing over a month ago, and every week I look it shifts to an ETA of a week hence. I don't think I'm every going to see it. Can't even get customer support to respond.

SIGH 1 star, for old times' sake

Spotted in the wild: a cybertruck painted rust-colored. Well, that's a time-saver, I guess.

Draw another curve from hither-ish to yon-ish

"Spuds" as he came to be known. A mellow cat beyond belief. He started life on the streets, but was utterly inept at taking care of himself. He almost lost an eye, a leg, his tail. He did end up with a smashed jaw and a snaggle-tooth.

After taking him in for emergency care the third week in a row (for a "cat-engine interface" event, as the coworker who called us described it), we just adopted him.

No regrets.

For the record, this was my brother's idea

Halki sleeps. That bowl is a foot across. She is tiny.

If you saw this cat, you'd think she was a half-grown kitten. Friends, we have had this cat in our house for a year and a half since we scooped her away from the country park, and she has not grown a bit. (Well, she's plumped up, that's it.)

Look at her cute little toe beans! Look at her cute stubby tail! Look at her adorable flame points! Her silky fur! (Pfeh! Spit it out, it gets everywhere.)

Well, here's a new one: I get an email from my doctor's office lecturing me for being a no-show while I'm sitting in the waiting room waiting and waiting

Despite the fact that I checked in both with their automated system and at the front desk, 15 minutes before my appoinment

Software quality crisis, what software quality crisis?

I did eventually get seen (an hour late), but I imagine I'm going to go through billing hell to remove a ghost "no show" charge. Any bets?

Achievement unlocked: I can now make all the Archimedean solids

Here's a nice little snub dodecahedron

Gotta say, most of the Platonic solids are boring, but these are pretty nice

(Must not look at Catalan solid page, must not look at Catalan solid page...)

🎶 Our house, is a very very very fine house with two cats in the yard...

Tux and Zoozvi, a couple of homeless waifs who have taken up residence under the deck. Tux is back hobbling on 3 legs, this time favouring his front paw. He gets into scrapes, poor lad.

A little bonus action

Dear fellow Californians, before you roll your eyes and laugh at how all a-twitter the NYC crowd is getting about a small earthquake, bear in mind what passes for a "storm" to our local weather reporters and the breathless excitement engendered by a dusting of snow on Mt. Hamilton

On tools, a wee rant

I am fond of tools, tools of all kinds: tools for building and making, tools for cooking, tools for writing, software tools

Here's the thing: I find a tool I like and I am loyal beyond reason

I do not buy a shiny new spade when my old spade is already fine

I do not fool with a shiny new source control system when my old SCS is already fine

I have been using Emacs for a half century, about
