This well-written and sourced article accuses Boeing of taking parts that have failed the QA inspection and put it on the plane.
Specifically the sections 47/48 of the B787 which are the last four rows of the plane, along with its galley and rear toilets.

The whisleblower that pointed that out is btw now dead.

Hearing protection when working with loud tools - what do you use?

Are these auto-muting ones good? They seem like a good idea, but how is it in practice?

My problem with hearing protection is that tool use is intermittent but I don't want to be deaf and oblivious the whole time. Nor constantly pull them on and off (or worse, in and out).

I recently thought of buying online a Japanese saw to replace my bad back saw. This afternoon, in a second-hand clothes and other stuff shop, amongst the rusty screwdrivers, I came across a Dozuki saw (Z-Saw brand).
