I'm trying to find a site (preferably with an API I can query to pull dynamically) that will provide me a Station Plot (one of these things: https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/html/stationplot.shtml ) for my local weather. I keep thinking this should be easy, but I can only find, like, large area maps. I just want the diagram, preferably by zip code. Any ideas?

So uh. Anyone on dreamwidth? I'm at my usual place over there, if you want to uh pass notes during class or whatever we used to do?

Only 50 hours to go on the Rune Deck kickstarter, and we are just a little short! Please consider picking up a deck or two and helping us out! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/qtrnevermore/the-inkbrush-rune-deck

I stopped by PixlCat Coffee on 9th and Market today. Really creative coffee concoctions, delicious mochi muffins (housemate), and great records playing all morning. I'm going to have Lootpack's "Crate Diggin" stuck in my head all day.

@docpop oh hey I hadn’t heard of this. Did you happen to notice how wheelchair accessible it was? Any steps getting in?

Reminder that the Inkbrush Rune Deck, for which I wrote the informative booklet, is still live on Kickstarter! Get you some gorgeous rune cards, for divination or inspiration. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/qtrnevermore/the-inkbrush-rune-deck

Thinking about compiling a playlist of recent (post-2016) new singles by 80s synthpop bands getting all angry about the crisis of capitalism.

Start with the Pet Shop Boys ("What Are We Going To Do About The Rich?"), then Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark ("Kleptocracy").

Suggestions? (NB: must be synthpop or techno, from bands that existed before 1990 and are still releasing new material.)

mediapathic,
@mediapathic@wandering.shop avatar

@cstross basically everything Snog ever did is anti-capitalism. It leans more industrial, but I bet you could find something in there (“Buy Me, I’ll Change Your Life” comes to mind, but is I believe outside the requested time frame.)

    @lilithsaintcrow I think it’s because you know there’s got to be a dubious reason behind the program, this being the CIA, and the waiting for the reveal of that, which never comes. Plus the writing style reeks of blandly not talking about the terrible thing behind the walls.

    mediapathic,
    @mediapathic@wandering.shop avatar

    @lilithsaintcrow I actually read it as more Lovecraftian; I cannot attempt to describe the cosmic horror of what I can barely perceive kind of thing.

    It's the Day of Hermes aka Mercurius Day aka ! 🐏

    "Now when the dead have come to the place where each is led by his daimon i.e. [], first they are judged and sentenced, as they have lived well and piously, or not. And those who are found to have lived neither well nor ill, go to the Acheron."

    @AimeeMaroux @mythology @antiquidons I don’t think I’ve ever seen an equating of Hermes and The Daimon, which I always took to be an individual thing. Is this a common thing?

    I woke up this morning in 1990s Seattle. The kicker is, I was never in 1990s Seattle, even conceptually. I skipped Grunge entirely. While you were listening to Nirvana I was studying The Blade (Front Line Assembly, 1992). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=004P5FvV_XQ

    Name a film you've seen that left you with the thought, "This is art." If you want to explain why it made you feel that way, that would be pretty cool of you.

    @RickiTarr anything by Derek Jarman, but particularly The Angelic Conversation. Queer mysticism at its finest and often most challenging.

    Well, after 8 years as the "virtual front desk" for the SFWA Estates-Legacy Program I thought I had gotten some weird emails but I was apparently wrong, today was the day I finally got the weird email.

    Would that I could say more, but trust me, it was both very legit and honorable and reasonable and also EXTREMELY WEIRD.

    mediapathic,
    @mediapathic@wandering.shop avatar

    @mishellbaker do not feel compelled to confirm or deny this, but I’m willing to bet some wild con parties and 70’s notions of polyamory played into this.

    Just spent a few hours dungeon-crawling the world of Obsidian user advice, and I conclude that a) I'm nowhere near as much of a nerd as I once thought, b) there are some incredibly clever and organised people in the world, and c) there's a subset thereof who have incredibly intricate Obsidian vaults that contain little else but structured guidance on how to build incredibly intricate Obsidian vaults that contain little else but structured guidance on how to build incredibly intricate Obsidian...

    mediapathic,
    @mediapathic@wandering.shop avatar

    @PaulGrahamRaven I think it’s interesting that the Obsidian world, moreso than any other tool, seems to have embraced productivity-about-productivity. Something about the Lego block nature of it seems to feed this. I’m developing a hypothesis about why this is… but working on that is dangerously close to the recursive engine and it threatens to suck me in.

    Ted Sturgeon predicted Watson and Crick’s double helix in a story (The Golden Helix) published in 1953. Astonishingly, in that year he also (…And My Fear Is Great…) predicted Goths in a Dennys, which would not happen for at least another 30 years.

    There are two types of Star Trek fans in the Bay Area. Those who can't look at the Golden Gate without seeing Starfleet Academy behind it, and those of us who are waiting for the Bell Riots.
