@WhittierStitches @crossstitch 14ct, so tiny. Looks really nice though.

Is there an option on where I could hide all boosts on a timeline? Or create a new timeline where it could only show posts and replies and not boosts?

I'm having a bit of a difficulty going through my timeline especially when pinched in time so I'd like to read all non-boost first.

I just stumbled upon a noob-y dilemma. I know I just finished one but people use the stem stitch to fill up parts of an ? I thought it was just a fancier backstitch. 😆 Upon reading the instruction, found out its not satin but stem stitching.

So I tried filling up a portion with stem stitch and I have questions. What's the proper way to do it?

On the photo, the first 'loop', I did that by outlining it first with stem stitching then fill it up. The second one, I stitched it from the top to the bottom, one stem stitch right next to the other until its all filled and the last, I did that starting at the bottom to top.

The stem stitching adds direction to the leaves which is good, more details. But those look like I did all three wrong lol so is there a proper way of doing it? :oh_no:

@sahqon Oh shoot. I read it wrong. Almost e-v-e-r-y part is stem stitch. I assumed they're short and long because they look like short and long stitches. The entire cat is stem stitch. Also, the instructions on stem stitching are not the same with tutorials I watched on YouTube.

Or do I just fill it up with whatever that would make it look better? I vote for anarchy because I can't stem stitch. 😂

Photo of Stem stitch instructions Start on the back side of the fabric at point 1, then go down at point 2, but before pulling the stitch close to the fabric, you need to come up at point 3, the loose thread should be below the needle; Then pull the thread taut (tight), then repeat.

"One thousand starts here"

And it's a wrap on my very first project. I did a lot of mistakes. I posted a close-up photo so they can be ogled and hopefully, learned from (what not to do).

I have 3 patterns awaiting to be embroidered and I'm going to draw from a hat tomorrow what to do next. Here's to getting better at it!💪

PS.
Please allow me to title and put a hashtag/counter on each finished work so I can see them all in a hashtag click.

An up-closed photo of a finished embroidery of several yellow, white, peach and pink flowers with greens around them.

I think I'm seeing discrepancies on posts not showing up on my timeline.

Some posts on Mastodon are not appearing here on and some of my posts are not on Mastodon when I'm accessing them through a hashtag?

I'm browsing on on Mastodon and the same in IceShrimp but I'm getting different results.

Is this a federation issue?

Help.

I can't see some of other people's posts from mastodon.social of the same hashtag. I checked the visibility and they're public but I can't view it here on fedia. I had to copy the post link of the post to be able to see and interact with it.

I've been on the for more than a year but this is my first post.

Yes, this is a separate account exclusively for my posts and I won't even follow each other's nor link my main account here. Why? I'm not completely sure but I want to separate this from my main account because this account feels like it has a different purpose. This is an experiment, I suppose, and I'm excited about what will happen as the days go by and posts start to accumulate.

Some background. My first experience with embroidery was way back in elementary. We did our name in script with a flower and a few leaves on the side, all in running and back stitches. In 6th grade, we had crocheting. My mother taught me how and I taught more than a 3rd of my class back then. I made an alarmingly huge coaster, bigger than a plate (I stopped when I ran out of thread). Cross stitch was introduced to me by my aunt, my first piece was that easy Tweetie bird pattern. I think it only had 5 colors. Then later in high school, it became our home economics project. Did a few pieces as leisure after that. Never took knitting but I have a hunch that I'll probably be good with it also.😉

And now, I'm here. I saw an embroidery kit complete with a hoop on a shopping site one day and just bought it. I am/will be sharing WIPs as I learn how to do different styles since I only did simple stitches back then.

I have a handful lined up on what to do next; I have one kit on standby after my first, 2 kits coming in the mail, 13 kits waiting on my cart to be checked out, and several ideas to further distract myself from this :dumpster_fire_gif: world and make use of "my clumsy fingers". The ultimate goal: thread/needle painting.🤞

Let's do this! 👊

It's Ron, btw. Nice to meet you. :ablobcatwave:

This is my first project and my very first post.

The first pic is what it should be and the second is my work-in-progress.

I know I already messed up several times but I have to start somewhere.

I do bit by bit and color by color. I started on the right side, going to the left⬅️. I'm skipping light-colored threads because I prefer to do them last so it would not get dirty.

I learned how to do satin and contour stitch on this pattern.

Here's to the start of everything!

My first embroidery WIP. An unfinished embroidery on a hoop with red ink markings on the cloth as the un-embroidered parts.
