So after some thought & research, I'll be migrating my main fediverse presence over to https://cosocial.ca/@maj in order to be able to participate in the wider 'verse.
I've really enjoyed the extremely well-governed and actively moderated experience here at eldritch.cafe but I do want to follow a wider swath of sources that include journalists, politicians, and government organizations which, at least in the short term, are going to be found on some of the "big ones" like Threads (even if it means doing more of my own moderation).
I absolutely understand the desire to create multiple spaces with different experiences -- and that is one of the great things about the fediverse!
The migration process seems to have gone well -- it took all of 5 minutes to move followers and other files over-- and I hope this will be pretty seamless for followers.
Arg how long before news articles stop embedding X Tweets with media that cannot be viewed without an account?
You cannot use it as a public hosting service!
@micheleann It's just such terrible journalistic practice on so many levels. I find it frustrating that so few people in journalism seem to understand this, goes hand in hand with them using regular/non-famous people's tweets without permission.
@ericg fucking love Mofongo! Probably too carb-y for this crowd tho (have two high protein / low carb guys)
Plantains are also not thick on the ground here ;-)
Every billionaire represents a policy failure and this type of generational wealth is a blight on humanity.
"All billionaires under 30 have inherited their wealth, research finds
Fifteen young billionaires are among the first wave of a $5.2tn transfer of wealth by the ageing super-rich"
One of the (many) problems with online April Fools jokes is that they're still floating around after April 1.
Like, FB is going to be showing dumb April Fools posts at the top of my feed for months.
@micheleann Perfect example of why you should use CamelCase for hashtags! 😆 Not only is it easier to read for sighted people, but it's more accessible for people using screen readers too!
Blaise Pascal says “human beings will naturally seek distractions rather than confront their own thoughts in moments of solitude and quiet because those thoughts will eventually lead them to consider unpleasant matters such as their own mortality, the vanity of their endeavors, and the general frailty of the human condition.”
I had too much sugar today and it's entirely my fault and I was totally aware that it was happening but I still would like some extenuating circumference to blame, please.
@micheleann Zombie Jesus made you do it? He kept just saying "yeah, it killed me too but, look at me, I'm back, baby, eat more and join me in my death cult!" ...or something...
When I'm tired of a bug and the console.log starts looking like a poem.
