moitoi,

This is how social darwinist rich people or also known as rich see you.

Tumblr and Wordpress to Sell Users’ Data to Train AI Tools (www.404media.co)

this could not be timed worse for Tumblr which is in huge hot water with its userbase already for its CEO breaking his sabbatical to ban a prominent trans user for allegedly threatening him (in a cartoonish manner), and then spending a week personally justifying it increasingly wildly across several platforms. the rumors had...

moitoi,

Think AI as the new tool to make money quickly after crypto, NFT, etc.

moitoi,

The question is why students will watch Netflix instead of listening and learning. It wasn’t better in the past as they didn’t have a smartphone. The situation is different.

We live in a world in perpetual movement. The school is in a new situation. Tomorrow, the situation will change again and again.

What to do? We can go back to how we think it was in the past. But, it will never be. People and society changed. How we see the world around us changed.

Or, we can do what any government did in the past 30 years, putting money in schools and education. The school has to follow the change in the perception of the world by adapting their methods. Instead of 2x+2x=4x, you can learn 2 smartphones + 2 smartphones = 4 smartphones.

The other point is that we are in an ultra individual time. And, school can’t be like that. School is a common. You have to play in team. This need to build a relationship and confidence between teachers and students and between students. But, nobody gives the time and money to do so. Bullying is high for example and isn’t addressed properly.

It’s not that it was better before. It changed and we didn’t put the money so the school followed the perpetual change.

moitoi,
  1. They already did.
  2. Lemmy appears in Google search.

😂 Elon Musk just crawled from under a rock and discovered something that has been bothering people for years. It is just too funny not to share this one.

moitoi,

Just enter “admin” in the textbox for the Microsoft account. You’re welcome. If Elon pass by, thanks to mention it cames from Lemmy.

moitoi,

It works with Windows 11 while setting up a new device. Follow the setup and enter “admin” when asked for a Microsoft account. It will give an error and the possibility to create a local account.

moitoi,

You need to disable the network using command line. The “admin” trick is easier for most of the users.

Spanish drained the lake in multiple steps to build the modern city. The water they are using is ground water, pumped in an aquifer. Mexico city has a network of canals to drain the storm water.

The other issue is the aquifer doesn’t recharge enough due to the urbanization and consumption. One solution is to use the rain water by cleaning it and storing.

moitoi,

You don’t have all the time an aquifer under a lake. You can find lake on impermeable soil, for example. If connected to an aquifer, you still have some sort of soil between the lake and the aquifer. They drained the water of the lake and the soil when solid at the air. This is why if the aquifer is too low, you have a risk of collapsing.

With urbanization, they build houses, buildings, later parking, paved streets, etc. Each of them is sealing the ground. The water flow in the storm water canals out of the city instead of going in the aquifer. You have a similar issue all over the world.

One project is to use the water in the storm water canals, treat this water and store it in multiple man-made structure like reservoir. We mostly all use man-made structure for water distribution in the developed world. The issue with putting the treated water in the aquifer is that if the treatment went wrong, it contaminates the entire aquifer. The entire aquifer would be unusable.

moitoi,

No taxes on fuel

Trains use infrastructures and not the air

it’s just 2 examples. Complain at your government if you want things to change.

moitoi,

Quantum or tell me that you fall in the pseudoscientific trap.

moitoi,

My sentence wasn’t that litteral. It’s pseudoscientific crap marketing. “Quantum security” isn’t “survive attacks using quantum computers”. It’s completely pedantic.

The issue with this usage is that the meaning of the words disappears.

moitoi,

It’s my point. I never ever wrote the term doesn’t exist nor the term isn’t valid.

moitoi,

It was nice to use it in nightly. It’s good it came to stable.

moitoi,

Elon could self masturbate. It’s cheaper than losing billions with a toy.

moitoi,

You can blame Macron for that. The same as in Germany with centrist.

moitoi,

If I die, you die. If I eat, you eat. If I drink, you drink. …

moitoi,

Cops don’t resolve problems, they are the problem.

moitoi,

Spotify just changed their TOS, giving them unprecedented rights to create "derivative works" from audiobooks (storyfair.net)

They frame it as though it’s for user content, more likely it’s to train AI, but in fact it gives them the right to do almost anything they want - up to (but not including) stealing the content outright.

moitoi,

This will be an unpopular opinion here.

I’m not against AI but the rules have to be in laws and regulations. First, AI can’t use copyrighted material without paying for it. It can’t either use material without asking individually.

The second point is that AI can’t created copyrighted material. Whatever an AI created, it’s free of copyright and everyone can use it.

Third, an AI can’t be a blackbox. It has to be comprehensive how it works and what the AI is doing. A solution would be to have source available code.

Fourth, AI can’t violate laws, create and push misinformation, and material used for misinforming.

And, of course, anything created using AI has to be indentified as such.

The money is in what the AI can do, the quality of the result, and the quality of the code. All the other things isn’t valuable.

moitoi,

They require to pass PlayIntegrity not safetynet. Safetynet is an old thing.

moitoi,

It’s advertisement. They use the same strategy as advertisers. They don’t care it it’s true or false. They want that people read and speak about them and to do so they need to target a minority. The advantage of targeting a minority is that they will create a sense of common among some people. And, to maintain and have new follower, they need to advertise the BS on a regular basis.

And, they will repeat the same process with an other minority once the previous doesn’t work anymore. It’s working because it’s an easy answer to issues of the people.
