@fulanigirl @kat_kime I was born into a family obsessed with elitism, status, wealth, and power at any cost. An obsession that permanently estranged us.

As late as 2016 my brown bag club father, aunt, and first cousin dismissed my experiences of having my paternity questioned because of my much darker skin, and bizarrely claimed colorism doesn't exist in Washington DC Black culture, that it might rarely happen elsewhere.

That level of denial is virtually pandemic among the most educated and affluent of the Diaspora.

@kat_kime @fulanigirl I bought and studied it, but never was able to find anyone local interested in reading and discussing it. I try to ignore people who throw shade and are too intellectually lazy to offer evidence and logic to support their opinion. That isn't the case with Professor Ball's critique.

@fulanigirl @kat_kime Caste doesn't suffer from a lack of research so much as it appears written to avoid making a white audience uncomfortable.

It offers no critical analysis or solution to ending the racialized class/caste hierarchy. The racialized class hierarchy is a Ponzi scheme only s few can ever benefit from at the expense of a permanent underclass.

A scheme that requires the willing duplicity of the middle class and poor, who fantasize they too can one day be on top, and so defend the status quo of oppression instead of uniting to end it.

The solution to the deliberately created system of caste and racialization, is their deliberate ending, NOT racial equality.

As I have said before, diversity among the ruling class is never progress, it is a bribe that discourages BIPOC elites who gain access, from fighting to end a system they benefit from.

To be European, or born of the Colonial Diaspora, is to be born into a racialized class hierarchy based on the so-called Enlightenment Era pseudo-science of phrenology/phenomic racialization—physical deviations from idealized European stereotypes—a deliberate system the majority deny exists.

This Ponzi scheme of “whiteness,” its illusion of meritocracy, of European exceptionalism, of hyper-individualistic competition, and mutually assured failure for all but a few, is an appeal to vanity, subsidized by the blood sacrifice of Indigenous peoples of every continent.

Orchestrated from behind a mask of civility and presumed innocence, the construct of “whiteness” is defended by a tactical foil of physical and socioeconomic violence, obfuscating the more powerful strategic weapons of mass perception.

@fifilamoura Few things are more traumatic than being treated, or the fear of being treated the same as Black and Brown people.

The white Appalachian kids I had so much in common with should have made us allies, but from earliest childhood all they had to hang on to was "I may be poor, but I'm still better than any n__#*ger!"

I had several.pretend to be friends, only to discover they were active members of white supremacists organizations.

Had a business partner in the 90s building BBS servers and designing websites, I even wrote music and performed at his wedding only to find out he had an active account on stormfront.org and was deeply concerned about the contamination of the white race.

A 2020 Gallup poll found that six in 10 people would vote for a well-qualified atheist presidential candidate, fewer people said they would be willing to vote for an atheist than a candidate who was gay, lesbian or Muslim. Only socialists ranked lower among poll respondents.

So the isolation I experience has never been a mystery to me, since I tick every box for attributes people don't tolerate, much less accept, and trust.

The Lens of Religion
Consciously or not, the majority of people base their functional concepts of human nature on the faith tradition they were raised in, ones commonly rooted in Bronze and Iron Age concepts of social hierarchy, work, wealth, gender, and sexuality.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if so many didn't seek to both explicitly and implicitly demand their faith-based beliefs be “respected” as equal to reason and evidentiary fact and so applicable to all people.

Speaking for myself, the moment I demand others accept as fact, what I have chosen to believe by faith, I deny them the same liberty, the freedom to believe or not, which I would claim for myself.
