The Black Elite Are Out Of Their Minds!

@kat_kime @fulanigirl I bought and studied it, but never was able to find anyone local interested in reading and discussing it. I try to ignore people who throw shade and are too intellectually lazy to offer evidence and logic to support their opinion. That isn't the case with Professor Ball's critique.

muiren,
@muiren@sfba.social avatar

@fulanigirl @kat_kime Caste doesn't suffer from a lack of research so much as it appears written to avoid making a white audience uncomfortable.

It offers no critical analysis or solution to ending the racialized class/caste hierarchy. The racialized class hierarchy is a Ponzi scheme only s few can ever benefit from at the expense of a permanent underclass.

A scheme that requires the willing duplicity of the middle class and poor, who fantasize they too can one day be on top, and so defend the status quo of oppression instead of uniting to end it.

The solution to the deliberately created system of caste and racialization, is their deliberate ending, NOT racial equality.

As I have said before, diversity among the ruling class is never progress, it is a bribe that discourages BIPOC elites who gain access, from fighting to end a system they benefit from.

@muiren@sfba.social avatar

@fulanigirl @kat_kime I'm always open to new sources of knowledge.

muiren,
@muiren@sfba.social avatar

@fulanigirl @kat_kime I was born into a family obsessed with elitism, status, wealth, and power at any cost. An obsession that permanently estranged us.

As late as 2016 my brown bag club father, aunt, and first cousin dismissed my experiences of having my paternity questioned because of my much darker skin, and bizarrely claimed colorism doesn't exist in Washington DC Black culture, that it might rarely happen elsewhere.

That level of denial is virtually pandemic among the most educated and affluent of the Diaspora.

In This Town, Only The Rich Get Water • More Perfect Union
Water is running out in Pearce, Arizona. Residents tell us that their wells are running dry. Meanwhile, a massive dairy farm is using 900 million gallons of water each year. But it's not just Pearce. This is happening across Arizona, where corporations are racing to profit from the state's disappearing water.

Still thinking about the concept of studying ant communication by getting down to ant level. Make a tiny robot (we don't know how to make walking robots that small, so wheels it is) the robot would have a camera, little pads to collect pheromones (which could be dropped off to be analyzed) antennae IR sensors and maybe a way to stridulate?

Then one could really find out what's going on in there.

Worst case you have made an immersive ant VR experience!

muiren,
@muiren@sfba.social avatar

@futurebird Not sure if that was humor, but there are prototype nanobots far below the size you would need. Practical micro or insect scale bots have made a lot of progress over the past few years, by experimentalist at the corporate, academic, and hobbyists.

Adapting Dune (Without Arabs) • Miranda Ketita

My first reading of Frank Herbert's “Dune” was in 1969, and I couldn't convince anyone else to read it, mostly because the reviews weren't that good.

When others did come around to reading it, the message they got from the book was the opposite of mine, which is a cautionary tale warning of unfettered capitalistic extraction, exploitation-based cultures and the fanatical belief in strongmen, messianic figures.

muiren,
@muiren@sfba.social avatar

@cynblogger Not sure if you were looking for a response. Without some context or reason why, there is no way to respond. What were your expectations of the book? Do you believe it was badly written? What did you think the book was about verses what Herbert clearly said inspired and informed writing Dune? Do you believe in unrestricted capitalism, deny climate change, do you believe people have to be led by dictators or religious prophets?

For decades, I've had idiot white and black folk try shaming me for playing and listening to bluegrass, high lonesome blues, country swing by JD Loudermilk, Bill Monroe, Louvin Brothers, and many more. I wish Vassar Clements, Father of Hillbilly Jazz was alive to set these idiots straight!

If we were serious about not being a white Christian Ethnostate, then all courts would be science courts and both federal and state law would require a vetting process to ensure compulsory laws based on pseudo-science, quasi-religious, and religious assumptions are barred from further consideration.

The fact this isn't even a discussion, suggests that regardless of party, a majority of people don't really want to.be held accountable for insinuating their "deeply held personal bigotry" into law.

@Jaden3 When I was a child in the late 50s and 60s we still used the Negro Motorist Green Books throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and the rest of the Midwest. It was NOT just for travelling safely through the deep south.
