@stroughtonsmith I wouldn't personally risk it but I'd imagine it goes away in 3 years at the first press story of someone getting a huge bill from Apple.

“It should’ve been an app”. Yeah sure, but it’s a ton easier to sell a $200 cool looking gadget vs trying to get people to pay $100+ for an app. Also you don’t have to deal with the gate keepers that’ll do everything in their overwhelming power to Sherlock you into the ground in a few months.

Since I'm having trouble Googling this now, did the ability to subclass Swift classes with Objective-C make it into Swift 5.9? What is the proposal I should be tracking on this?

@stroughtonsmith is it smart enough to catch mismatches, like defining the ObjC side as nullable or making color a String in Swift?

I'd also blame this on non upgradable RAM, which started in 2014. Removed most incentive for Apple to be competitive with RAM (and storage).

I got the Meross vs the ratgdo because it seemed the slightly less hacky solution (has a case and is HK certified) . This was before I realized I had the “Yellow" button and needed the extra remote. And also before I realized I'd need to wire a cable across the ceiling for the open/close sensor.

Mind you I had all this working just fine with Homebridge.
