If I wanted to re-live an alternate childhood and experience the SNES/TurboGrafx/Neo Geo classics, on the couch, which way should I go? Analogue Pocket or Steam Deck OLED?

I like the idea of FPGA emulation but that screen looks so tiny…

Online media can be overwhelming. It's fragmented between countless services, websites, social networks, and apps.

You need an app that weaves together an overview of nearly everything that’s happening across all the different services you follow.

That’s our vision for Project Tapestry, the new Kickstarter we're launching today.

Iconfactory,
@Iconfactory@iconfactory.world avatar

Project Tapestry is a universal chronological timeline of your favorite social media services, blogs, RSS feeds & more. All updates in one place, in the order they’re posted with no algorithm deciding what you see or when you see it.

But we need your help! Check out our Kickstarter campaign to learn more about the project and the backer rewards we have planned, then make a pledge to help us turn Project Tapestry into a reality.

Is there a Mac Pro review embargo? I’ve yet to see a single review, unboxing, anything.

@paul I don’t think there's any embargo on the Mac Pro review (we did an unboxing yesterday : https://www.macg.co/mac/2023/06/apercu-du-mac-pro-2023-137579). imo It's just that's a complicated Mac to review !

Crazy news of the day Tweetbot may be unsuspended with a super generous use cap of 1500 Tweets per month! Maybe I'll bring it back with a $1000/Tweet monthly sub?

stuart,
@stuart@cyberpunk.gmbh avatar

@paul yeah, my @twitlonger account is unsuspended too.

I’m more inclined to believe they’ve accidentally restored an old backup, the same way people suddenly have 25,000 deleted tweets reappearing.

In my first story for Texas Monthly, I wrote about @paul and @mark, founders of @tapbots, whose livelihoods were threatened when Twitter unceremoniously revoked their app Tweetbot. Now, they’re betting their futures on their latest creation @ivory, a third-party client for @Mastodon.

Ivory for Mac will be released tomorrow!

We’ve decided to keep things simple as far as subscriptions go. If you paid for “Premier”, you’ll automatically get access to the Mac app as we have changed “Premier” to “Universal”.

If you paid for “Pro”, you’ll get the same access to “iOS + iPadOS”.

If you upgrade to “Universal”, your sub date will reset and you’ll be refunded the remainder of your Pro subscription.

👋🏻 so you may have read (and I’m excited to share!) that I’ll be helping @Gargron and the team with the developer community and space.

Finishing up a busy weekend showing completely-unrelated things at - but I’ll have more to post about this soon… 😊

I'm so confused about the market for professional AV editors who want to work on an iPad. If you need to do this stuff on the go why not just get a MBA or the MBP 14”?

patrickgpowers,

@paul I think it's more about opening up opportunities to create content. When I worked at a school, we would have considered a set of iPad Pros with FCP because it's a single device that can shoot and edit content that students could take home. I can also see this being big for events where you want to shoot, edit and post. My wife works in advertising and I could see her teams using this at festivals, etc to provide realtime content for client’s social channels.

Stoneymonster,

@paul one short answer for logic: when I’m tracking drums or guitar it’s a pain the ass to find a good/safe place for a full laptop and interact with a keyboard/mouse.
