I wrote a fairly mundane post on Reddit that led to me getting an AI-prompted message with suicide prevention resources.

I was completely mystified but then I realized it was probably because I included the phrase: "I find it hard to manage" (in a context like "I find it hard to manage the crabgrass in my garden ... ").

This is the future isn't it? AI pestering us with context-free misunderstood nonsense. I guess I should just count myself lucky that the AI didn't institutionalize me.

Spanish is not Portuguese… but it’s pretty similar. I don’t speak Spanish, but I can almost read a newspaper. They share a lot of vocabulary, and grammar.

Anyways, I use google translate for communicating with my cleaning lady and…

I’m fairly certain that it’s dropping the gender here. It’s a weird kind of gaslighting. These subtle errors are making me highly suspicious of all machine translation

Weak people think leadership is about “being in charge”. They like bossing people around, but they’re too immature or incompetent to handle dissent or criticism.

Instead, true leadership is about making the best decisions to accomplish group goals.

Strong leaders know they will sometimes err, or have to compromise, and that creates disappointment.

Therefore, being a leader means you have to eat shit sometimes, and knowing that your critics can be right even if you made the correct decision.

moved both kids (daycare, jk) to a new, larger school today, and

on arrival we realized the daycare is still running on COVID-theatre rules:

• drop off the kid to a runner, who guides them to the class
• parents don’t get to spontaneously interact with the class or teachers, and yet
• nobody is wearing masks (hence why it’s theatre)

and… i felt a pang of regret
