Another album released Friday, also from , is Julius Asal's Scriabin – Scarlatti, which seems to have some good reviews, but perhaps I will have to listen to it a couple of times to see it? Asal seems like a competent pianist, yes, but not "uncommon."

As I listen further to Julius Asal's Scriabin – Scarlatti, it really does show potential. I don't think he is there yet, but the potential is there. He should still be an understudy.

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

Ah, Julius Asal is 27. Much older than he looks. I don't imagine many of the great teachers in Europe are going to take a 27 year old under their wings. He's just been thrown out there like it or not with the skill-set he has now. That perhaps happens too often. Still, he landed a great record deal. Perhaps I am at fault and I just don't hear it.

Here is it. Aside fro Tuvok's ridiculous quick recovery from burning from the inside out, Tanis is like, "Bring the fire!" and how is that not a cringe moment? Why burn plants as a demonstration of power? Ugh. @allstartrek

@allstartrek "When you are ready, Suspiria will embrace you" - this Caretaker cult reminds me of the episode, "Covenant" with Dukat as the cult leader.

@nocontexttrek Small correction to you Alt text. That is not a communicator Worf is looking at. It is the Nagus's beetle snuff.

I priced out a new sectional for my living room and holy shit the price of new furniture has gone up.

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@evacide I was just noticing that everything has gone up. Of course, groceries have been too much for some time now, but even HiRes digital albums on have been more expensive, and I am supposed be getting a discount with my Sublime membership. Books haven't gone up too much, at least not in the last few years.

I’m playing a Doraemon game on my Nintendo Switch and this suspiciously helpful child appears to be called… Ranch 🤔

@elizabethtasker Are you allowed to ask them questions? Like if they go good on a hamburger?

Dunno which Churchill he's talking about. How is this guy still considered a historian??

David Starkey: "When human rights were invented by Churchill, they were intended to protect the individual against the state. The left has redesigned them to protect minorities against the majority."

TalkTV yesterday

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@fkamiah17 Um, the rights of the minority should be part of the state? Did I get wrong?

@stfn It should be obvious. Unless you are a Republican, a capitalist, or both.

Hi all! I'm still in a newsletter subscription push mode -- with the demise of the bird app, it's gotten really hard to get the word out about projects like this that don't have an internal algorithm to help people find it.

If you like , , , or just want to support a woman of color doing STEM stuff -- please subscribe! Ad Astra is a weekly newsletter that tells you what's going on in space science and spaceflight.

@skrishna If I had known you had a newsletter I would have subscribed sooner. Love your videos. You make interesting and complex things clear and precise.

"The head of Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services has said artificial intelligence will result in “minimal” need for call centres in as soon as a year, with AI’s rapid advances set to upend a vast industry across Asia and beyond"

End of IT sweatshops is near

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@impactology No disrespect intended, but people have been saying this for a long time. And I am aware of the projected growth of AI and its projected abilities, but I don't think it will be replacing call centers any time soon. At least not in the U.S., not by companies that want to keep their customers happy. People want to talk to people. That is the end of the story. And yes, despite that reality AI might still replace call centers, but that is likely 20 years down the road.

Playing with the Insta360 X4 today.

So far pretty good, just my phone isn't ideal to edit 8k videos, but here's 1 photo in 3 different views

#photography #spherical #spherical360

Same photo but showing a pub & the local church
360 view showing everything that was captured in the single photo

@peter Impressive(!), but expensive for a novelty camera. I know it's more than a novelty camera to some people, but for me it wouldn't be much more.

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@peter Though I am tempted all the same.....

So you know when mission development is just taking waaaaaay toooooo loooooong, so you skip straight to the movie? 🍿

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@elizabethtasker Wow. First I am hearing of this. I have a question. It may be an obvious question and it may be a no-nothing question, but while JAXA is at it why can't get those Mars samples NASA have given up on being able to get and is seeking outside help for? It seems JAXA is prepared for the mission.

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@elizabethtasker Yes, I realize JAXA is going to Mar's moon, but since it has the ability to do that, it seems to the casual observer you guys to be putting Mars on the drawing board. Sorry if I am imposing.

What needs continuous use of cooperative interdependent imagination in order to maintain its existence? (can be a type of environment, artifact, organization or anything tangible)

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@impactology I like where you are going with locating an imaginative experience. That may have more potential than my goal. My goal was to create an environment of nature and nurture where there is no more violence in the world. I think you should be spreading your ideas beyond social media.
