This seems like a long shot, but why not:

Is there anybody in the Philadelphia area who's interested in a bunch of free classical music records? (I haven't counted, but I'm talking about a few hundred records here. And they're in pretty good shape, too!) We're moving soon, and aren't planning on taking them with us. So if anybody out there is interested and can pick them up, lemme know and we can work out the details.

We went out of town recently and some friends came by each day for cat care. We wanted to make sure that no one shooed the boys off of their favorite kitchen counter, so we left a note.

(Honestly, we left way too many notes. But I can't help it. I get so anxious about leaving them!)

I've been going through some records in preparation for a move. I came across this Billie Holiday collection and I'm in utter disbelief at what they chose to put on the back cover.

"The songs included in the album cover a span of years and were selected to convey to the careful listener the constant disintegration of her vocal chords as the devil weed exacted it's toll."

Back cover of Billie Holiday's Lady Day Swings the Blues. There's a track listing, and three paragraphs of text, plus a little "Technical Data" text box at the bottom, but I'm not gonna write all that out b/c this post was really just about the "devil weed" business I quoted in the toot. But I will point out that they mispelled Billie Holiday's name. Also, there doesn't seem to be a date on this thing, either on the record itself, or on discogs.
Closeup of the text I quoted in the toot, which I'm finding increasingly unbelievable and actually kinda enraging, given what little I know about Billie Holiday's life and death. (Also, I think I'm getting myself all worked up b/c I found this thing not long after I learned about Sinead O'Connor, whose death has had a much greater emotional impact on me than I would've expected.) I haven't proofread the entire cover, but I will note that in "...as the devil weed exacted it's toll", "it's" shouldn't have an apostophe.
