Warm weather on a Sunday morning is great for drying the washing, but in Sydney that usually means humidity and that slows me down.

So YouTuber and streamer Finnster has come out as . A lot of people saw this coming, unsurprisingly.

But he's also done something else profound: he's normalising the journey of cross-dressing to femboy to transgender. Because that's very similar to my journey. And I think a lot of people don't grasp that that's also an entirely valid path to take.

Eggs can crack in all different ways at all different times for all different reasons.

@NanoRaptor Interesting that there is no requirement listed for the otherwise optional NES Keyboard. :)

@NanoRaptor Nice. I missed a change to buy a cheap SX-64 about 20 years ago. And my computing path never took me into Mac land until work gave me a MBP a few years ago.

I see people like Does Not Compute restoring older Macs and using them and I wonder if I would find getting something like that Quadra enjoyable.

A great new plan for YouTube and Google!

Actually stumbled into a video where the guy managed to say "Let's jump into it!" TWICE in the same useless introduction before getting to his actual "content".

Here's my proposal to . YouTube already has Copyright Strikes and TOS strikes. Too many and you lose your channel. I propose a new type of strike, the "Annoying Intro Strike". Every creator gets one free use of "Let's jump into it!" and one free use of "Let's get started!" Each additional use of either phrase in a video intro is a strike. Three strikes and the creator loses their channel, unless they pay Google $1. They then get their channel back, but another three strikes is another violation, and then they need to pay $10 to get their channel back. The fine for each subsequent violation continues to rise exponentially. I'm sure that Google can automate the detection of these phrases.

I'm not just looking out for the sanity of YouTube viewers with this proposal, I'm offering Google an entire new lucrative profit center.

@static@aus.social avatar

@lauren I wish there was a way to report YT creators for relentless pleas to subscribe and turn on notifications. It's approaching the level of how Ebay sellers insist on 5 star reviews and only 5 star reviews.

static,
@static@aus.social avatar

@lauren The only aspect of that more annoying is the popup graphics some creators add showing that, complete with a 'ding', every few minutes. I have stopped watching channels for doing that...

I don't think I've done an post. Or if I did, I forgot to pin it..

My profile is a start but I came over from the birdsite in one of the first migrations, basically following most of my friend network.

I've been a pagan for a little while,
a photographer for a while longer, a programmer for a long time, a musician of one sort or another for even longer, a writer of some shade or other for just as long. And I recently discovered I'm transgender and have been all my life.

My taste in music is mostly Kpop but also a touch of electronica and a few other odds-and-sods, which I also make. Sometimes you'll see my art here, too.

Oh, and I've lost count of how many programming languages I've used over the decades.

Good morning from Melbourne! That was a good overnight journey in the XPT, though we arrived an hour late due to a stricken freight train in the way. Though delay doesn't matter too much, as long as you have a comfy compartment to sit in.

More about the sleeper journey later at my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/timrichards

static,

@timrichards I've looked at doing that journey several times over the years. And it's always hugely more expensive than getting a plane...

I have a delivery that the supplier tells me is waiting in my local post office. But. I have no notice from AusPost about its existence, and I know they never tried to deliver it because not only was I home all day, but I got something else delivered, too! So wierd.

static,
@static@aus.social avatar

@luciedigitalni It does rather. Our normal parcel delivery driver is normally good at delivering and remembers people, as is the early afternoon postie. And the supplier has my email address, because they've been sending updates. But their tracking info doesn't show delivery attempt. Which is strange.

I think I need to wait until Monday to see if they actually attempt delivery.

Since I've talked a lot about change today, I'll ask a question about it:

If you've changed something in your life or about yourself, how did you do it, and why?

static,
@static@aus.social avatar

@RickiTarr I realized I was tired of clothes (skirts) sitting on my hips instead of my waist. I needed to lose some inches of off my waist, basically. That was also the time I chanced across a short, modular, daily exercise routine and pairing that with a daily nightly walk, cutting back on the snacks and generally eating less, I lost about 10kg in 6 months and my waist went from 44 inches to 37.

This George Street tram is useful, but IMO the CBD stops are too far apart. It's a fair walk if you happen to be halfway between some stops (eg QVB and Wynyard). #Sydney #Trams #Tram

@Sydney_Stations @timrichards

I think there have been a lot of compromises with their station placement. The Chinatown one should definitely be moved south a hundred metres and then one added at World Square.

Also the Bridge St one should be north of Bridge St, which would've let them put the Wynyard station actually outside the train station, and added another just south of Martin Pl.
