So, Mastodon and X enable easy embedding of their posts on other websites.

BlueSky has a solution generated by a 3rd-party (there was another one which went away.)

Threads gives you a way to generate a code, but all it does is load up a box and link to Threads.

Super disappointing to see the willingness to let the walled garden thrive, but not surprising.

@llarian Agreed, of the four it's the one I enjoy the least and feels the most superficial as a platform.

So, apparently, Bimbo Bread is named for its parent company, the Mexican "Grupo Bimbo" which was founded in the 1940s.

In trying to figure out where 'Bimbo' in the name came from I found their corporate website. It states that the name is a combination of "Bingo" and "Bambi." That's... interesting.

@trick@hachyderm.io avatar

@bedirthan I say it Bim-bo, but can easily believe it's supposed to be Beem-bo.

They really want to make it hard for me to watch soccer games, what a corporate-driven mess. The games could be on any of five services, good luck soccer fan! Introducing NWSL+!

@zackstern Yeah, it's super disappointing. They tried to make a cheeky social post about it with Thanos' stones being each of the streaming platforms.

Just rewatched Infinity War and Endgame with a friend who hadn't seen them before. "I love you 3,000" still makes me ugly cry.

Last night I made a pilot of a I'm calling "Lostinpedia." Every week it's a five episode series of Wikipedia entries read as entries in the podcast. Each entry linking to the next.

For this pilot episode, I recorded the "Heroes, the David Bowie Song" entry as a proof, and to get my podcasting legs back under me since it's been so long. It's far from perfect, but figured I'd share the pilot and see what people think.

I feel like I'm kind of required to make a base of some sort with this ship in the ice. The view out of it isn't half-bad either.

Learning Rust has been very interesting. Returning back to desktop coding rather than web coding has been a bigger leap than I expected. It's been 20 years since I programmed in C and C++. Ow my back.

I want an reader with short term filters. I think there's two varieties:

  • Expire after X days
  • Expire X days after last filtered post

With hundreds of feeds, managing noise is a major need. I'd like to be able to filter stories which aren't likely to add anything new for me.

My current example is the kid who beat Tetris. Super cool and I'm glad I know it, but I don't need to keep hearing about it 2 weeks after it happened and I blogged about it.

Finished book 1 of 2024 - There is No Antimimetics Division by qntm. A sci-fi/horror SCP novel. Not my usual sort of reading, but it explored a very interesting concept and drew me in.
