, what are your best practices for breaking through the saturation that is pervasive on many platforms and ensuring your music is heard by your audience?

turbobob,
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@mirlo Share your music & embrace it. A great example is Baron Crâne. From the start, they fully shared their first album (still their best imo) as freely as can be: streaming, download in all formats incl. FLAC, you name it. People got excited, and shared it even further for them. They certainly got to play many more concerts thanks to this open attitude, become more known, play more etc

In stark comparison, some bands only share a few of their songs for streaming. Or even only short excerpts.

I’m in a mood for listening jazz metal and feeling open for recommendations!

turbobob,
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@basssounds What do you call jazz metal exactly, do you mean metal with progressive elements? Is there such a band that you already like?

And what about the singing: is the black metal or death metal type of singing/screaming fine for instance, or would you rather have something instrumental?

turbobob, (edited )
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@basssounds
In the meantime, though I wouldn't qualify Baron Crâne as , their first album is amazing (harsh/noise, groovy, and bass heavy).

turbobob,
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@basssounds Nice! I hope you'll find something you'll enjoy :)

I'm very tempted to recommend my favourite song from Mastodon then:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAdxjTm7sfQ
It is from the concept album 'Leviathan', based on Moby Dick. This is at the end of the album, when they finally fight the white whale, fall into the sea, can't breathe and are terrified, as the beast is relentlessly attacking them. Some screams are to be expected.

turbobob,
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@basssounds
If there's too much screaming, note that Sam Abbott made an instrumental cover of it on the piano, which is also great:

turbobob,
@turbobob@mamot.fr avatar

@basssounds

Oh, wonderful :)

I'll give you a second one, Blood and Thunder from the same album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnwZca8z9II

The chorus outlines a fully diminished seventh chord, as pointed out by Doug Helvering (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1INymfbvAY).

Bonus: old but worth seeing, from 0:43 to 1:28:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpoAcXu65TM&t=43s

As you go further back in time, the albums get heavier and heavier, if you move forward, it gets closer to prog rock. I personally prefer Leviathan, Remission, and Blood Mountain.

Cheers!

Absurd to accept, but I am not sure I'm surprised tech monopolies would ask for this kind of money if they feel they can.

Adopted proposal: https://amsterdam.raadsinformatie.nl/document/13943325/1/09012f978106234b quoting https://amsterdam.raadsinformatie.nl/document/12368695/1/09012f9780b26dec (p55).

The budget of Amsterdam is €5.7 billion (https://www.amsterdam.nl/en/policy/policy-city-finances/); the natural unit for discussing any spending is in "million €" (https://www.amsterdam.nl/bestuur-organisatie/financien/).

Hopefully it will inspire other capitals and municipalities to move away from big tech :blobcatheart:

The dehumanization of Palestinians as a group is the hallmark of their history of ethnic cleansing, dispossession and apartheid.”"

As signatory to the convention, Israel must comply.

It must also cease fire. The Security Council decision is fully binding.

All signatories to the Genocide convention have an obligation to prevent Genocide: it is high time to issue sanctions.
