We are closer to shipping Ivory v1.9! The big feature for this release is the ability to quote posts. If you'd like to test it out, jump back on the TestFlight version of Ivory. We've opened up some more TestFlight beta slots here as well:

This meme is hilarious. At least when we worked on iPad, we got an actual iPad (with Steve’s signature on it). But then again, the iPad was $500, and there were fewer of us.

Still, a postcard-sized paper poster is almost insulting. Why not commission someone to make a tiny Vision Pro for display or something? Better yet, machine it out of alum-ee-ni-um!

Couldn't find an Apple Vision Pro stand, so I threw together a quick 3D printable one over lunch where it can stand vertically and cover the lens 🥽

Printing now to test it, then I'll put it on Thingiverse or something (no I'm not printing it in steel but that would be cool)

Posted my virtual Game Boy video to Threads and got a bunch of killjoys in my mentions lol

This looks really awkward Awkward as fuck Please say sike. After 5 min you get hand cramp peak I'll take playing the original game on original hardware.
This looks like the most annoying and uncomfortable possible way to play this. This is the lamest thing l've seeen I swear What a dumb way to play this. Bruh 💀💀💀

“Why didn't they use Memoji instead of Persona?”

Reading between the lines, I think there's quite a bit of NIH going on.

Memoji is built around SceneKit. SceneKit is incompatible with RealityKit (which is meant to be a substitute, but falls far short), and RealityKit's security model, and thus can't be used for 3D content in visionOS.

Apple would have to rewrite Memori/Animoji in some form of RealityKit, and visionOS’ RealityKit is not [today] compatible with iOS/macOS. Lots of wasted effort

I’m not as pessimistic about EyeSight (and Personas) on Apple Vision Pro as many seem to be. Just think about other features that started rough but gradually became great: Portrait Mode, Live Photos, even FaceTime itself. Just because this tech isn't perfect on day one, I don't think it should be immediately discarded.

@michaelsteeber EyeSight also seems like something that doesn’t photograph well with the lenticular display. I have a feeling IRL it has a cooler effect than can be seen over video or images.

    First day back in the office after a week of vacation and a remote week. The OOO week was spent in Disney World with friends and WOW what a magical time. I really appreciate how truly immersive that place is and the attention to detail astounds me. Still thinking about how well done the new TRON ride was too.

    So, is it too early for a wishlist for 2.0? 😎

    I haven't used it yet, but from what I've read so far I think my wishlist would be:

    1. Improved ARKit - everything that worked in iOS ARKit should work on visionOS

    2. AppKit support - if it makes sense to use this form factor as a virtual Mac display, it also makes sense to run those apps natively

    3. Shared Space - multiple people in the same room each using a Vision should be able to see & interact with shared virtual objects

    @markv 4. developer built Environments that extend into the system level Environments. In the App Store, a new Environments portal to buy and download new ones.

    (I fear the Environments Apple provides in visionOS will be static and not frequently added to, similar to watch faces, sadly)
