It's volunteer work, which some people enjoy. Much like being a volunteer firefighter or member of a local club. I have modded across Discord, Twitch and also Reddit (for a short amount of time) and there is a certain joy it brings you. You get to care for a forum in which people like you discuss your favorite topics. You get to keep your own community clean and happy. And having that power and responsibility does give one a lot of joy. Think about it like it's parenting. Nobody is gonna pay you for having kids (in fact you're gonna lose a bunch of money), but when they succeed in life it makes you extremely happy.
In case you live in Europe: keep prove of the deletion and if your comments are recovered keep proof of that as well. Under European law (GDPR) you can file a complaint. If a large amount of people claim violations of GDPR Reddit's gonna have some issues.
Some of the more niche ones, such as music composition or Euroleague Basketball. I doubt enough people migrate to a actually create a somewhat active community for those.
I'm 25 and I don't have a drivers license. I mean, I've never really felt the need to go and get one. Public transport is usually the fastest option where I live, and it takes a lot less responsibility to use it....
Personally, I am a huge fan of public transport (also without a driver's license), but there are certain downsides to it that really can't be ignored. The biggest of them all: dependability/dependancy. As a user of public transport I am dependant on that mode of transport to operate. If they don't, I'm stuck. Say the public transport you wanna take operates only every one or two hours, that significantly changes how flexible you are and also alters the way you can plan. Instead of committing to, say for example, leaving at 8am and returning at 4pm, I may have to leave at 9am and return at 3pm (effictively cutting my visit short by 2 hours) if those are the only times with service. And then of course construction can be a nightmare, depending on where it needs to be carried out.
Car users don't have these issues. They can travel whenever they want and wherever they want on whatever route they prefer. No need to change between trains, no danger of missing the bus or running into construction, no restrictions caused by the train schedule.
Really how smart is Elon? At this point I'm starting to believe he lives by "Fake it till you make it"
His bad management decisions, the fake diplomas, all the projects he created only to abandon them because they actually weren't good ideas. Elon has had like maybe 3 original ideas in his life that were actually good.
Like for example, how someone thinks because you work in IT you can fix their TV, or how if you're into music you must be able to play any random instrument....
I work in Public Relations. Most people seem to think we only sit down, draw some pictures, post some of them to Instagram and effortlessly write a couple paragraphs. Yeah, it ain't that easy. We actually plan weeks or even months ahead, precisely when to release what detail in which way on which channel to create a certain effect in the recipient.
Good morning! :) Today I want to focus mainly on reviewing the pull requests you've submitted. There are many great things there that will help improve the kbin experience. That's amazing, thank you! I'm also in the final stages of sorting out the infrastructure-related formalities. Soon, the situation with the website's...
Next year I will finally finish my bachelor's degree. Thanks to Covid I've lost a lot of time, but now that I have taken all of my modules I can finally focus on finishing this thing. I'm only two oral exams and a thesis away from being the first one in my family to graduate.
I do that all the time. I go out and have this weird urge to go back in, then I repeat the whole thing. Somedays I spent hours aimlessly browsing Reddit without leaving a single comment. We are legitimatelly addicted and didn't know until now. I have had legitimate withdrawal symptoms starting only hours after the blackout began. It is seriously worrying.
There is this weird "if I can't have it, they can't have it either" mentality brewing inside me, that I didn't know I was even capable off. It sucks to see this, but at this point I wanna burn it all to the ground. If I can't have Reddit, neither can Spez and Co.
I've had a similar thing happen this year. Someone introduced themselves to me while I was in a hurry. My stupid ass replied: "That's cool." This was a few months ago and I'm still embarrassed about it.
I remember once handing my credit card to the healthcare provider instead of my insurance card. Her reply was simply: "I'm gonna need a PIN for that." In my defense, it was like 8am.
I was running to get my train. For a reason i still can't explain, in the station entrance hatch, i turned right instead of continue right and hit the glass with my face. I have now a scar near the eyebrow.

What are some magazines you'd like to see on kbin that don't exist yet?
Are there any communities you've not yet seen on kbin that you used to visit on Reddit?...
Why do people prefer cars over public transport?

A lot subreddits end their blackout tomorrow. Will you go back to Reddit, or continue with kbin and the Fediverse?
I haven't used Reddit at all since the blackout began. Even if they change course, the Fediverse is growing on me, and I think I'll stay here....
OC My muscle memory hasn't caught up with the blackout yet.
95% down <3 I love the coordination and hate all this situation at the same time...
What's your "brain.exe has stopped working" moment ?
My dad congratuled me about something, and i responded "you're welcome" instead of "thank you".
