I just wanted to know if anybody knows of specific kitchen utensil brands that're actually worth buying long-term. Or atleast which ones should be avoided....
I am still working full-time remote. There are definitely some social aspects of going to the office I miss, but I really don't miss the commute or the shitty office politics. Overall I feel I am still more productive from home and happier overall.
Just gave me the best idea. Pump a stock and dump it after. Is this ethical? Probably not. Should I screw over countless people who jump in to ride the wave (and hold on never knowing what was actually causing the rise)? No. Will I actually do this? ...naw ๐
edit: @FrostBolt's comment reminded me of the cash matter. ๐ค
When launching a new Lemmy instance, your All feed will have very little populated. Also as a small instance, new communities that crop up may never make their way to you. LCS is a tool to seed communities, so your users have something in their All feed, right from the start. It tells your instance to pull the top communities...
All rich in comparison, sure, but most of us are probably struggling to maintain our lifestyle or investing in a better future for ourselves and/or loved ones. Atleast some of which is keeping up with the Joneses. Issue now becomes a matter of resources. How much time, energy, finances, patience do you have left over to help strangers in another country? How do you justify (to your peers aswell as yourself) aiding foreigners before your own?
Billionaires likely have a very similar situation going on. Just on a very incomprehensible level due to how far away their class is from lower and middle. Do they have as good of an excuse, though? From the outside looking in, I doubt it. Maybe the necessary security and cost of housing (why would they live in a poor neighborhood and risk burglary or death?) brings their finances down further than we realize. Would explain why they avoid taxes so much, but that's some benefit of the doubt shit. They could just be greedy as hell and have a class culture that encourages it along with wasteful spending. Who knows. Maybe, like a classic White, they're taught to hate "the poors".
For me, the main part of receiving upvotes is the "knowing" that someone agreed with or appreciated my comment. Encourages me to continue commenting. Like the opposite of being ignored during group conversations.
My rule is, never post anything you wouldn't mind the media tracing back to you IRL and then making the top story of the day in your country.
So don't live, basically.
Or you can just maintain anonymity as best as you reasonably can and hope no one goes out of their way to identify you or the account(s). Making a new account after awhile is a safe practice. The goal is to decrease the likelihood of undesirable things, not make them impossible.
Which in turn decreases the likelihood of something happening. Like locking a door.
The saying "If somebody wants to get in they will." is a terrible one when left as is.

I plan to buy my first split keyboard (forever) very soon and would like to hear y'all's opinions on the Glove80 (switch: Kailh Choc v1 Brown Tactile) and Moonlander (switch: Kailh Copper or Cherry MX Brown) two. I've already searched for threads and comments on the matter a few days ago through kbin, so any links to them you...
Looks like the Lily 58 Pro would be $162 pre-built plus switches and keycaps. So I'm guessing half the cost of a Glove80 ($400)? Mightest well go all in from the gate since I'm not gonna do the labor of building it myself. ๐คท๐ฟโโ๏ธ
I can check out cheaper split options on Etsy, though, if people really think I should test things out first. ๐ค
So~ having recently seen The Blackening (2023), I'm just gonna say that that movie will probably bring up bad memories, make you uncomfortable, and valid you at the same time. Happy Juneteenth.

How many of you are still working full-time remote and how is it going? If not, why not? Was the decision made by you to go back to the office or did your employer decide for you?

Can you guys shut up about Reddit?
I know this is on everyones minds, but talking the same shit over and over again isn't going to make new users stay on Lemmy.
If I gave you $1 million in cash to spend in 1 hour, after which the money will disappear, what would you buy?
I have asked this question to countless people (mostly in hair salons) as an alternative to small talk, and it always yields interesting results....
