I should begin by mentioning that I am (was) a moderator of three subreddits: one large subreddit, one NSFW subreddit and a medical-related subreddit. After u/spez’s calamitous AMA, I joined Lemmy and haven’t looked back. I am really enjoying the Lemmy/KBin vibe. It is very much an alpha (almost beta) product and the ad...
So many reddit mods were angry power-hungry assholes. I don't feel sorry for them just as much as I don't feel sorry for reddit's hopeventual collapse. I can't count how many times I had BS moderation enacted, then when I was perfectly civil, usually just asking for basic clarification as to why something was removed, was instantly silenced from further communication with the mods with threats of potential removal from participation in the sub or reddit entirely. I am not alone in this experience.
I run a discord server and freely explain to user that they are welcome to disagree with me, openly and freely, as while I run this unofficial community server about an event I don't own/operate,
The same is for a reddit mod, especially for broad topics and localities.
Unfortunately I do see the potential for similar behavior here in the fediverse. I can't say I know how to address it entirely, but I know I can act the way that's fair to the community of which I am only an administrator, not a ruler nor creator.
There's all the bright lights and noise of Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, or even the beach. There are so many social expectations we struggle with. And the heat itself can be overwhelming. Does anyone else find summer heat to be completely draining? It's so much mental and emotional labor...
no one brought up the US. Plenty of old homes and apartments don't have AC. You can buy them yourself and stick it in the window. Plenty of non white folk in the US have AC. hth
Valve quietly not publishing games that contain AI generated content if the submitters can't prove they own the rights to the assets the AI was trained on
Considering I don't really think they did the other 3 times, I'm going to say probably not. To me the series ends with Devil's Hands. The rest is fine once a year, but it's not on an almost continuous loop like S1-5
Abortion rights activists were unhappy with the president’s comments, as millions of people are being denied access to abortion care in nearly half the country.

Just in case anyone is using their account here to post to off-instance communities: those posts and comments seem to have a very high failure rate. I have a 3060 ti and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which, while a good CPU, doesn't matter because the performance of the game itself is bottlenecked for CPU usage. 1440p60 constant. I paid less than $400 for the GPU from EVGA's B-stock.
I have a launch switch and a PC. I've mostly played on PC, and also recently got a steam deck, so add that to the mix. The SD isn't much better than a switch, especially with the translation errors of emulation, but it's still better and a better screen for sure. PC is no contest better. CPU is the bottleneck on performance for the game, so while I have a Ryzen 7, Yuzu barely uses it, at most 30% utilization. My 3060ti is running at almost max, but it's also doing a solid 1440p60 with very little errors. What little graphical inconsistencies there are are massive outweighed by the better resolution, and higher framerate.
Seeing stuff about reddit being posted to 10 different technology boards, plus reddit-themed ones, then reposted further just makes this whole idea a mess. Reposts have to be consolidated into a single comment thread.
Will something be done about moderators owning 50+ magazines/communities and counting? Already seeing power mods migrate from Reddit trying to hoard as many communities as possible.
Every time she comes up it's always underlined that she is super transphobic. However, it's never been really clear to me what things she has said to acquire such a status. @pcgaming How can I fool an application to think I'm using Ethernet instead of Wifi? I tried a network bridge but it was much slower. I'm using a PCIE Wifi 6e card which has no ethernet of its own, but the PC goes have gigabit ethernet
This is the smartwatch I own. True netrunners know that the tech we wear on (or under) our skin is a prime entry vector for ever hungry megacorps to bleed the pulsing data from our digital veins, so having a wearable I have full control over is of paramount importance. For real, the person's name is LitigousEmma. This is one step away from a copyright troll, which imo seems to the the mortal enemy of the idea of FOSS. Did this Emma recognize all the developers of the programming languages they used, or the people who made the computer they worked on, or the pioneers of electronics in general? It's not like Emma took quarks and atoms and turned it into an web aggregator.
Game looks cool, but I can't stand this guy. He's speaking as if this is some third eye opening transcendental art piece. The... pausing between... words as if you should focus... on them because they're important and special... is really annoying... because it's just... a video game. It's like he's trying to show us some deep wisdom from a gameplay trailer.
I just can't support Activision-Blizzard anymore. Make me feel gross after the phone Diablo, and OW2. The beta was fun, but it's just not worth the price tag.
One thing I hated in the later years of reddit was the lack of reddiquette. Not making simple comments that could just have been an upvote. Reading the board rules. Trying to just be educated about your posts in general. Not asking for simple explanations that can easily be found on a web search....
