Been working through a small order of these, these are mid-priced (for me) cigars that hit most of the notes I like. I’m still not the best at identifying flavors but it fits a standard Don Pepin profile, I’m also a big fan of the Tatuaje cigars and really just all his cigars are a little spicy and leave me thinking “Oh boy, I sure do enjoy smoking cigars.”
It truly has been a great change of pace in my life since I started enjoying tobacco again. After I quit smoking cigarettes and went nicotine abstinent for two years I just saw my porch and thought about how boring it would be out there without a cigarette. Cigarettes felt like an annoying compulsive habit. One or two cigars a day and I’m right as rain, sitting outside enjoying the atmosphere and a much more satisfying smoking experience. Cigs don’t even smell or taste good.
I’d say it tastes like it looks. Dark brown. Rich. Woody, leather. Just pleasant all the way. No complaints.
Didn’t even know I had this one in my tupperjar - I’ve been meaning to stock up on some nice connecticuts for my morning smoke but went the opposite direction and had a Cain this morning.
Much stronger and fuller than I’d usually like this time of day - but I knew what I was getting into. Taste isn’t unpleasant - it’s actually very nice, but it’s a spicy boy and the nicotine is there for sure. Retrohale hurts a bit so I’m doing it sparingly.
Coming back about 5 minutes later and it has toned down that pain a bit. Not burning my sinuses. Just a strong nicotine, full bodied cigar with some chocolatey woody notes, an absence of sweetness for me but ymmv.
Of what I’ve got I am lately favoring something a little lighter. There’s a massive price difference but I love my Casdagli Gramd Cafes, and something light such as a Connecticut is such a great coffee companion. Also just not looking for so much nicotine. This Cain would be ideal next to a strong whiskey. On the budget I’m still in love with the Tatuaje Series P Short Robusto, it tastes good lasts long enough and a perfect companion for a grill session, usually wrapping up right around when the food is ready.

Giving another chance to the My Father - Flor De Las Antillas
These were part of my initial cigar haul and when I first got them I was somewhat disappointed. Didn’t taste too great to me, which was disappointing because I had seen so much praise and I like the presentation with the ornate styling of artwork and little silk cap.
Smoking again after about a month in my jar and I’m actually really enjoying this one now. I don’t know if that’s due to aging or due to changes in my palate since I started smoking cigars. I’m new to all this, if you asked me two months ago to review my favorite smoke it would have been “American spirit yellow, filter snapped off, tastes pretty much like a cigarette but my tastebuds are shot and I’m really just trying to chase a shot of whiskey with some dopamine.”
Medium to full bodied, very nutty with a pleasant aroma. Just enough sweetness, with a notable but not overpowering spice on the nose. I always say I taste chocolate, with like every cigar that has any sweetness at all. I think I just am trying to find that flavor and do.
That’s great and I think it’s important that everybody make efforts in whatever ways they can. For me those efforts have been differently focused, because the source of my electricity is natural gas I prefer to just cut out the middleman where possible as the net amount of gas used is lower when piped straight to the house to create heat. I did however stop using disposable razors, I ride my bike and take the train (in a city where that is not exactly uh… ideal), and I buy unpackaged or non-plastic groceries where possible. Got an electric mower, some other stuff.
If I lived in the desert I’d probably seek out electricity as a power source more frequently with the abundance of solar. Planet-saving solutions will be regionally dependent for sure and what really matters is that people are aware and intentional - like I don’t need cords of wood ready for winter but tell someone in the northeast they shouldn’t be burning all that wood and they’re gonna laugh.
I will agree though, especially in lower income housing proper ventilation is insanely not required by code. These little recirculating hoods are the standard and they do nothing, which is a health risk no matter what is heating up your food - but it’s certainly worse with gas than electric.
A boob, a butt, or even some violence like one might see on the news anyway, I’m not freaked out about all that and I don’t feel the need to hide it from those around me usually… that’s all fine fine, but I don’t want porn on my feed like at all....
If only I actually was talking to myself instead of compulsively responding to bad faith arguments from a handful of people here I would have done a much better job paying attention to the mindless television I was trying to watch last night. Felt just like reddit again for a few minutes there, but now back to uh... anything other than arguing on the internet. Keep on abiding.
I never asked for a boobs tag. I was stating that I’m not personally offended if a stray nipple appears in my feed. But overall, porn, including most nudity, should be able to be filtered from the feed while still receiving content from subs I haven’t subscribed to.
I eat popcorn fairly often and I was wondering if I can improve on the taste with minimal effort. Do you guys know any good mix I could use instead of salt alone?
Some dashes of hot sauce can be nice. Doesn’t usually make it too soggy as long as you’re not to wild in the streets with it.
Popcorn is super flexible, if there’s a flavor you like there’s a good chance you’ll like it on popcorn… just have to watch out for texture. You want to add a little moisture but not make it wet, beyond that… you are the artist and the popcorn is your palette 🎨
Little messy cause I had to find places for all the sounds stuff to fit that we normally don't have to deal with, but it ended up working out pretty well.
Pretty clean though I’d worry about the mic flopping around on the arm and all non-Arri matteboxes at some point in the day will fill me with irrational rage.

I say we go a step further and make sure to at least mention Reddit in EVERY post so the web indexers start bringing up these threads when people search “blah blah blah reddit” because Google is terrible without adding reddit to the end of a search string.

Feel like lemmynsfw should be an opt-in - like I have no problem seeing some “NSFW” content in my feed, by the standards a lot of people impose that like… on Reddit, cigars and drugs and other things that don’t offend me at all are marked NSFW so by default I want to allow some NSFW content… I just don’t want to see porn, I go to pornhub for that. Last thing I want is a constant stream of people advertising their onlyfans accounts.
@marioguzman Popping in here a month later because I didn’t even know stage manager existed and just turned it on and it was an immediate “Aha!” moment for me after years of trying to make spaces and Mission Control and third party add-ons solve problems for me.
It’s definitely a different strokes for different folks thing along with different tools for different jobs. I am generally only sincerely working on one thing at a time, but need to have a lot of different windows for completing those tasks and clutter on the desktop makes it feel impossible at times. I tried moving related things to different desktop spaces, but it slowed me down in as many ways as it helped me.
With stage manager, I can grab my current app and then bring in other recently used apps as I need them and push them back when I’m done, switch to another app and do the same. Works for me because I usually am using one of a handful of primary applications and then need elements from others as I go. Spaces creates too much division for my workflow.
