Sure! Click the link at the very top of the page! You know, what this entire conversation is theoretically talking about? It takes you to a Home Assistant page and even has some details on their philosophy and links to even more details about their privacy focused philosophy! I thought saying essentially "read the fucking article" would be pretty asshole-ish and wouldn't contribute anything to the conversation, but I also thought that your question contributed nothing, so I downvoted.
I’m in the market for books that normalize poly parenting. I have the Red Stroller for normalizing different family types (eg. single parent, gay, interracial)....
I know, right?! It's like those people that wear these weird bands to show to the world that they've been 'taken' or whatever, like, I get it, but please - stop shoving your 'lifestyle' down my throat, ok?! Call me old fashioned, but I think they should keep their kinks to themselves and shouldn't be allowed to wear their weird "wedding rings" in public where children can see them!
OP isn't asking how to introduce their kids to the concept of BDSM or asking to explain how they like being tied up, for fucks sake, they're asking if there are child friendly books to help explain that you can love multiple people. Most monogamous folks introduce their partner to their kids after 6-12 months, so why wouldn't poly folks be able to do the same?
OP - Unfortunately, I think books around LGBTQIA+ and then having a conversation might be the best you're going to get from the quick research I just did. At the very least, your options are slim if you do manage to find anything.
Hard to say. A LOT of USB-C cables don't meet spec and are either hot garbage or a risk waiting to happen, even if it's not immediately apparent to you as a user of them, based on the testing that Benson had previously done.
If Apples devices can detect this, you may get an error. People are already ragging on the cost of Apples USB-C cables, but to my knowledge, they all meet the spec and will also 100% work at 100W of charging and the other auxiliary items in the spec that most manufacturers seem to just ignore.
Now, with all that said, I'd never pay Apples price for a single cable, but if you absolutely want a cable that's going to meet spec, I also can't fault you for buying one either!
I thought it was 30, but it looks to be 20USD, which like you said, not a terrible price by any means. I usually get the 100W capable ones for around 10-12 when they go on sale, so I even retract my "I wouldn't pay their prices" comment since I have paid 18-20 when I needed a good cable ASAP.
People just like to complain about the "apple tax" and I can't fault apple for not trusting their brand to shoddy products because the news isn't going to report that a shitty cable burned down a house, it's going to be that an iPhone burned down the house.

For apps, Artemis exists, but only works on artemis.camp until the API is official, but you can grab it and check it out. Pretty sweet already.
Upvote means "I like what you said and want you to know it".
Boost means "I like what you said and want others to see it too!". Think of it like a re-tweet or whatever it's called on Mastodon (re-toot?).
ETA: I believe the dev of Artemis is also planning on open sourcing their KBIN<->lemmy translation layer once everything is confirmed to make it easier for others to add support to their apps too

The people that'll tell you not to pay off a house before the end of your mortgage are the same ones that're first in line to buy up houses in recessions as quick as they can.
Are there other things that might be better investments? Sure, but having your home paid off is a solid investment in your future too.
Hey hey hey, he's got a point! People who have things don't usually safeguard them like they should!
With that in mind, I'm sure between the two of us, we can manage his finances way better than him. He should just give his paychecks to us and we'll pay his bills and keep the money safe.
Who's to say it's not true? Bob_wiley? Nah, that guy sucks at finances and would just spend it on frivolous shit or literally just throw it in the garage, that's the kind of savage shit those .World users would do. We can just hold onto the money for him, in our accounts. The money will totally be safe there and we can all agree that we'd be the better people to safeguard the cash for Bob_Wiley. Way better than Bob_Wiley himself.
Fuck, I'm cis-het guy and I hadn't really thought about it until #MeToo, but MeToo.
Hanging out with my girlfriend, her friends & my wife and one of the guy friends grabbed my junk and said that "you have a nice package". I moved away from him, but otherwise, the night just continued as it had been and I went on with my life.
There have been a few other instances, sometimes with men, sometimes with women, but, fuck if that isn't a shitty realization to have come to.
Once, to show her daily experience, my gf at the time (now wife) had me walk far enough in front of her that we didn't appear together, but not so far I wouldn't be able to hear. The amount of catcalls when walking down a city street while dressed non-provactively was fucking ridiculous (it would still be ridiculous if she were 'dressed to impress' to be fair, but I'm trying to illustrate that she wasn't dressed in any way that could 'generously' be interpreted as 'asking for the attention'). I hadn't not believed her before, but seeing it myself was eye opening and made me realize I need to not be in a bubble when I'm out and about.
Anyone who identifies as a guy and says "I've never seen someone getting harassed" ... open your eyes and ears as you walk through the world and see if that's actually true or if you just didn't pay enough attention to notice it. Ask basically any woman you know if they've ever gotten catcalled or had their ass grabbed in public or at what age men in their 40s started sexualizing them; if you have a close enough relationship, I can almost guarantee that they'll say 'yes' to the first couple and 12-14ish for the last one -- and those are direct questions rather than "have you been harassed" which might be more open to self-deception.
Everyone knows it's not ALL men, but I have to imagine that it feels close-a-fucking-nough when you're getting harassed on what feels like a constant basis.
ETA: And with your eyes/ears opened if you notice something, say something! Dosomething.
To be fair, to some of us this is a feature not a bug.
A technology post on a technology/infosec/IT focused instance seems to have a COMPLETELY different focus and conversation than one on the larger instances, for example and I don't want those mixed in with people saying that AI is a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world.
There are smaller dedicated art focused instances popping up too. I'd expect that they're going to have a better set of conversations around those subjects than the same threads on a general instance and I don't want those mixed up.
If it's a subject I really want to see a lot of discussion about, I'll look at multiple threads... can this mean that some subjects won't have as good of a conversation because people aren't bouncing off of each other? Yeah, absolutely and that frankly SUCKS, but, as stated, it also means that some of the niche conversations have a chance to grow where they may have previously just been unseen due to how many people are talking.
To me, they're on different instances for a reason, let it grow organically. The ones that stand out will wind up being the main ones people use.
As for amount of users. A decent amount of those are likely alts people created when instances were having problems or just to try out the different locations.
Or, people just didn't like the Fediverse for all the reasons you stated, which is also possible, but I don't necessarily think chasing numbers should be the end all goal
Yeah, but, I don't see how that really changes anything.
On a smaller instance (or one that's defederated from others ... in either direction), that might very well completely shift focuses.
For the Fediverse specific community, if you want one with the most chance of getting to the developers, use the instance that they're on, otherwise, I'd think to just let the cultures develop and diverge naturally as they're likely to.
The amount of money most workers want now to accept a job reached a record high this year, a sign that inflation is alive and well at least in the labor market....
Well, you see, the secret to being frugal with your money is to have enough money to just live of the interest and the dividends! Stupid poor people, just optimize your money by having more of it and you're all set!
Just because your dogs brain was transferred into a robot body that doesn't need exercise doesn't mean that the dog doesn't still want to go for a walk!
I dunno why the movie going public was disappointed.
This movie delivered exactly what it promised. If you watched this movie after seeing a trailer for it and somehow found yourself disappointed, I don't really know what to tell you. I feel like it fucking delivered on everything it promised.
Personally, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Not everything needs to be a masterpiece, occasionally something can just be stupid fun.
