tygerprints,

@LGBTQNation Anyone who is well adjusted mentally has no problem with anyone else's sexuality. And this "gay panic defense" has never held up in court even once. Also the article does note, the shooter had been harrassing the dog owner for months with homophobic slurs, so it's quite obvious who the real danger to society here is, and it ain't the guy who was shot.

It's too bad the shooter had nobody in his own life who cared about him enough to help get him the psychological care he sorely needed. His hate comes from the recognition that this dog owner had everything going for him, and he himself had nothing.

tygerprints,

@nosleep I wouldn't call a wolf gay, because they're kind of serious and dour. And I would think owning one wouldn't exactly be a party - but they are handsome animals.

@korgster

tygerprints,

@korgster Animals like wolves I don't think should be forced into being pets - I think they are meant to be wild, and that somehow makes them even more admire-able.

2009: Harriet Harman is squeamish about trans women and so lets the Equality Act get drafted in a sloppy and ambiguous way.

2010: The coalition government passes it and can’t be arsed to read the damned thing, despite trans people (and I was one of them) waving frantically at MPs and senior civil servants.

A decade of dominoes fall…

2025: “I know he was goosestepping past the water cooler yelling ‘Heil Hitler’, but the courts have decided that the Equality Act means we can’t fire him.”

Guys, some of us tried. 🤷🏻‍♀️

tygerprints,

@goatsarah Well here in baboon-butt red Utah a small minded white ass bigot just helped get a law passed forbidding trans people from using any restroom in a public building that doesn't conform to the sex they were assigned on their birth certificate.

This without any proof that trans people are in any way doing anything harmful in bathrooms other than - well, using them to go to the bathroom.

I'm gay myself, but when I go to a restroom I go there to pee or poop. That's it. And I expect to be left alone and have privacy. But who keeps wanting to get into our drawers and check out our junk? It's the straight bigots out there.

In most cases where I've felt threatened in public bathrooms it was by leering straight guys, not by anyone on our "side of the fence."

Anyway I don't envy the white "perfect" human who gets the job of checking out the sex designation on other people's birth certificates whenever they use a public restroom.

Glad to see people seem to be opening up to the term over "add more letters to LGBT!!"

The problem with trying to make an initialism covering all forms of diversity is that diversity is...diverse, and you essentially have a near-infinite number of increasingly uncommon but still relevant things to add.

You really just need an umbrella term.

"but it's a slur!!!!" yeah so's everything they call us, who cares.

tygerprints,

@SirTapTap I couldn't agree more with the need for a less cumbersome umbrella term, but the word "queer" is not the right word. In fact, it still means what it always did, something that is broken, odd, out of alignment, and weird.

I'm gay myself, and I've had to punch the teeth out of several people who tried to insult me over it, time and time again. And I don't mind doing so. But I'll be DAMNED if I'm going to allow myself to be called a derogatory name like "queer" because it's a word that straight people love using against us, knowing full well the disgusting connotations of such a word.

Like your gay or interracial marriage? Enjoy it while you can.

tygerprints,

@StillIRise1963 Back in the 80s when I first came out, the world was still an incredibly immature hostile place toward LGBTQ people. And it still is. But even back then I was helping conduct gay marriages, though they weren't recognized by law. I attended so many weddings of LGBTQ people that I was doing one or two every weekend, at least.

My point is, the immoral bigots of the world can pass all the shitty laws they want to, it's up to you as a gay person to live your life the way you choose anyway. Even if it is breaking the law. The only thing that can change immorality and medieval ignorance is the light of truth and living the way you are wanting to live, no matter what the law says.

Fuck the people who make these laws anyway, if their own lives were any good they'd be helping others instead of trying to trample on everyone else's happiness. So just keep that in mind.

Picture is a rainbow-colored anime girl smiling and holding a gun in a graffiti-covered storm drain.

Caption reads: hey come here you fuckin dumb idiot it's time to be gay and do crimes

tygerprints,

@CosmicTrigger Well i was a kid when Stonewall occurred, but I remember being proud of gay people for fighting back. I never thought of it was US breaking the law, rather as an act of courage of people standing up to, as you say, fascist policy.

I just don't like to see being gay equated with lowlifes and criminal elements, as if being gay is the same as being a thug.

But i do agree with your point of view, if they pass new anti-gay laws, we'll fight back. It's not illegal or wrong to stand up against tyranny.

tygerprints,

@dj Yoo hoo Jew, but no, I'm not Jewish but have good friends that are. Thanks for proving all my points about being better than smaller brained people.

@mutualaid @lt @leyonhjelm

tygerprints,

@sarvo That's also great, and by the way I do too. Being gay doesn't mean I don't like women also.

@mutualaid @lt @leyonhjelm @dj

tygerprints,

@vic I suspect you're projecting your own childhood experiences. I know that my being gay is something you envy, but you don't need to project your own insecurities. I can tell you were molested by bigotry and hate because they are so evident in your response.

@mutualaid @lt @leyonhjelm

tygerprints,

@vic But you already have so little wit, it would never work for you darling. BTW, I want to use this graphic, I love it!! It's marvelous.

tygerprints,

@CrustyB As has your ignorance, darling. Thanks for playing.

Anti-trans policies silence LGBTQIA2S+ teachers and faculty too:

"This is why I’m so shaken by this... I am not allowed to defend myself and my instinct is to defend, both myself and others, especially LGBTQ+ students, in all aspects of my life..."

Homophobic students have made gay teacher's life a "nightmare" while school does nothing - LGBTQ Nation

tygerprints,

@mercedesallen True, but that's what they do. They can't stand other people being happier or better off than they are.

That's really a big factor behind a lot of what we call bigotry.

You're gay

tygerprints,

@LivingCooki Thanks! It's a great thing to be recognized for having this gift. Yes I am gay and if I had a choice about it, I'd choose being gay every time without question. It's been an amazing gift, and one for which I am grateful eternally.

@queeromanceink Ask. Tell. If someone says you have to 'don't ask, don't tell,' get all in their face about it and be gay just to upset them and get under their skin. In all cases, in all places, in all walks of life - the answer to living happily is: Ask, and Tell. No matter who gets angry about it.
