"I mean what is the deal with doctrinal theology? There are thousands of web sites and forums locked in endless pedantic debate, analyzing the arbitrary threads of theories far and wide. Like whether that wizard headmaster is gay, whether it’s kinda weird for hundred-year-old vampires to be dating school girls, and whether portrayals of counter-predatory sexual submissiveness are empowering or denigrating. Theology is the same. Just wanking over fan-fiction. "

tygerprints,

@siblingpastry It's completely bonkers given that we're talking about fictional characters anyway. And when all is said and done, it's just sex we're talking about and it shouldn't be anything that stirs up debate or gets people angry over it. It's just sex, people - not the second coming of Christ or the end of the world or anything really deserving of such debate. Get over it!!!

two verdicts from watching the boy and the heron:
watching it on a big screen makes me realise theres a separate art style for their backgrounds and their foregrounds, which gives it an effect similar to the old cinema way of making miniatures and compositing your actors over the top, its really cool
and
im gay

tygerprints,

@mynotaurus Good observations, and congrats on your realization of being gay! It's a great way to be.

Just changed my voter registration. Farewell GOP, you were great for a while but now you have lost your way. I'm pleased to now be a registered Democrat.

tygerprints,

@BaldProphet Congrats BaldProphet, and welcome to the light. It takes a lot of growing and courage to come over to the good side. Plus we throw better parties. Welcome aboard!

don’t think I need to present any further detail as a gay Jewish of why I was absolutely rapt through every second in Fran Drescher’s 34 minute interview of Barbra Streisand for the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award, but I feel even if you are not me you would find this a tremendous conversation https://youtu.be/Tlv_4mko8AI?si=hIiu55d5amgoFp5j

tygerprints,

@taber Love the Barb. I've been a big fan since I was a kid - maybe I shoulda known that was a sign of my eventual orientation? I dunno, but I always liked her. My favorite is still "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever," a magnificent movie that is surely one of the most underrated musicals of all time.

my three gay crime moods:

  • who cares about crime, let's be gay!
  • who cares about gay, let's do crime!
  • no wait, i need both
tygerprints,

@jasmine Better yet, be gay and be a good person! That would really show up the bigots, and show them we aren't crime-committing lowlifes. Resist any fascist laws and break any anti-LGBTQ ones, sure - that's given, but in all other ways be totally upstanding and show that LGBTQ are not any different from anyone else.

tygerprints,

@nyx Weird. Sad and Gay just don't together for me. I was much sadder until I came out as gay. And now I can afford Gay detergent and pricey Royal Crown colas and all the good things in life.

Highly concentrated liquid gay – just add water! 🫧

tygerprints,

@GayOldTime The power of Gay can wipe all your grime and unhappiness away. And also there's a detergent by the same name.

tygerprints,

@andycymro Oh sure! While you're at it why don't you just go buy some Royal Crown cola since you're throwing money around. You rich people with your ritzy gay suds and your Royal Crown colas. : /

People who believe frozen embryos are children should only be given cow semen when they order steak and raw hops when they order beer. It's the same thing bro eat up

tygerprints,

@SirTapTap So frozen brine shrimp sold as sea monkeys are actually people? Then shouldn't we be forcing them to read the bible and get jobs instead of putting them in aquariums and tanks of water?

tygerprints,

@SirTapTap Some people are suggesting that letting sperm die is also mass murder. Never mind that men release millions of them at a time, and only one could ever successfully penetrate the woman's egg anyway while the rest are destroyed in the womb.

I guess that means all of us are murderers in some way. Or maybe that suggesting such things about humans is utter nonsense to begin with. Frozen embryos - the weird thing is, IVF has been going on for some time now, and it's never been an issue or problem until now.

Pink Life QueerFest, an LGBTI+ film festival organized by the Pink Life Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transsexual (LGBTT) Solidarity Association since 2011 when it was the first in Turkey, was banned by the dictator-appointed Governor of Ankara.

'The governor also banned "exhibitions, press releases, movie screenings, plays, panels, and talks related to LGBT-LGBTI etc." in the letter notified to the venues, according to the LGBTI+ magazine KaosGL.
[...]
The Ankara Governor’s Office had banned all LGBTI+ events to be organized in the province "indefinitely" twice in 2017 and 2018.'

tygerprints,

@b9AcE I've seen the effects of these laws in creating a whole new generation of small brained bigots, and let me tell you, we were way under-reacting as a country. The new crop of cement-heads is among the stupidest and least worthwhile of all human generations.

The only good thing is, this kind of thing forces the pendulum to swing back the other way. In a few years, many of these hateful laws will be reversed and many of these cement-heads will get mowed under in the process. There's always light ahead.

tygerprints,

@b9AcE Resistance is life. I like that. It's very true for me, one my main raison d'etre is to rile up the status quo and get under the skin of those who would try and take my rights away.

Change is the true constant in life. And I've lived long enough to see how we always go from one end of the spectrum to the other, from the wild freedoms of the 60s to the staunch conservatism of the 80s, back and forth and back and forth. It will change and things will get better for us -that's the one thing you can always count on.

tygerprints,

@b9AcE It usually is in increments of 20-30 year cycles, I've noticed. So yes we're in a very restrictive conservative cycle now, but it won't stay that way. In fact I already can predict things going drastically the other direction in about 5 to 10 years.

I'm afraid we will at some point have to contend with WW 3, and it will be sooner rather than later. So with that in mind, I do my best to enjoy every moment we have left and be happy as I can be. Climate change also will be a huge problem in about 5 more years, not that it isn't already.....

So the best of times is now, as they say. You just have to hang on and get joy wherever you can find it.

So the same folks who said Black people are 3/5 of a person are now telling us that frozen embryos are people? Got it.

tygerprints,

@tristansnell What makes me laugh is how the media is forcing hysteria on us (on the left, supposedly) about this whole issue. Frankly, I'm not really even upset over it. Embryos are people? Fine then they can damn well get jobs and pay taxes.

And if fewer people can have kids (through IVF or whatever method) then it aligns perfectly with my viewpoint that people have too many children anyway, and maybe we should put kids in the fridge when they misbehave.
