If I lived in Texas or Florida, I would be looking through this guide on "creating a cool room for extreme heat events" from the DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy. This would have been useful as disaster prep for Houston this last week. https://basc.pnnl.gov/resource-guides/creating-cool-room-extreme-heat-events#edit-group-description #DisasterPreparedness #disasters #weather #wx #heatwaves

We haven't had any rain in a couple of weeks and my allergies were paying the price of the free flowing pollen.

So nice and cool too, this makes me happy!

Fairbanks Airport up to 71F (21.7C) as of 330pm AKDT Saturday. This is the first 70º day of the year, and is right on time, at least for recent years. The typical "first 70" is about 8 days earlier nowadays than it was in the early 20th century.#akwx #weather #ClimateChange

LA Times: Cloudy with a chance of rage: Climatologists fume over relocation of L.A. weather station. A decision by government forecasters to relocate downtown L.A.’s official weather observation station from USC to Dodger Stadium is generating extreme heat and wind gusts from some local climate experts. They insist the move will cast fog on local efforts to document the effects of climate change. https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2024-05-17/meteorologists-fume-over-relocation-of-l-a-weather-station #weather #wx #climate #LosAngeles #NWSLosAngeles

The situation in Germany's region right now is giving me a strong deja vu from three years ago, when another hilly area experienced unusually heavy rainfall that lead to devastating floods. I really hope we don't see the same kind of disaster happen as we did in the Ahrtal 2021. At least residents and emergency services should be sensitized to what could happen.

Hi @ebassi , we discuss here an issue with . I added you, because you might know why the regression exists. There are many locations missing in with version >= 41. Before, the locations were there and worked fine. Even larger German cities are not anymore available.

Related bug:

I wonder whether this cannot be easily fixed, because, for example, the extension finds many more locations

The economic damage wrought by climate change is six times worse than previously thought, with global heating set to shrink wealth at a rate consistent with the level of financial losses of a continuing permanent war.

Still trying to make it home.
There are a lot of places that look like they don’t have power. And there are a lot of small and thick tree branches that have been ripped off the trees.

But this big guy right here got pushed right over into the road. Rain soaked ground and a really strong wind was just too much for him.

#Houston #weather

An approximate 40ft tree toppled over at the roots, half of it blocking two lanes of a road in Northwest Harris County, Texas. This was result of rain over many days and high winds that occurred with a sudden storm.
