Rep. Jamie Raskin, co-chair of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, has once again proposed a National Day of Reason resolution as a counter to the National Day of Prayer. The resolution celebrates Saturday, May 4, 2024, as a National Day of Reason and urges Americans to focus on the importance of reason, critical thought, the scientific method and free inquiry to resolve problems rather than turning to religion.

Disappointed the real estate agent (is that Realtor(TM)?) at the door, who specifically drove over to my house to try to figure out if we were selling (noticed the pods out front for the last few months due to our disaster remodeling), LOL. Has been showing up regularly trying to find "the owners", based on all my security camera logs... (there is a shortage of inventory on the market here, for sure).

@Devilstower Based on the evidence of recent years I believe the Supreme Court exists to provide desired results to a radical minority, which force the majority to live within the restrictions of a handful of christian, corporate, and billionaire dictates. This will continue through my grandchildren's lifetimes, assuming we all continue to obey.

@cstross I worked this potential threat for about 12+ years in the IC. We don't know when or if easy spread between humans will occur. The couple mutations necessary have been studied. These personnel were with sick poultry. There are some cases of patients only close to sick people, not birds, yet pandemic hasn't happened. Let's wait for genetic analysis before going all apocalypse. Be prepared for any type of disaster is always good advice. Be calm is too.

The day I've been dreading finally came. My 2011 Tucson chugged a few times and died as I was driving down the road. I was able to pull into an empty lot and wait for a tow. Of course it's the weekend. No loaners or shuttle available from the dealer, all car rentals closed. Podunk town. Took a cab home & just hope I can get a loaner Monday. I was supposed to be at a chicken wing fest!!! 🤬 😭 😩

I finally got the verdict on my broken-down 2011 Hyundai Tucson: fuel pump is dead. Since I had no idea whether it was a major problem, I'd had the car towed to the local dealer. My rough estimate is I could've saved about $500 by getting the replacement done elsewhere. You win some, you lose some. At least with the dealer I got a loaner car & I'd have paid more than the difference if I'd rented for the duration.
