Just a bunch of plutocrats utilising their free-speech rights..

Report

Pro-Israel billionaires pushed NYC Mayor to use police on pro-Palestinian student protesters at Columbia University.

They donated to him & offered to pay for private investigators to help break up the demonstrations.

The group included Howard Schultz, Michael Dell, Bill Ackman & Joshua Kushner, with Daniel Lubetzky, Daniel Loeb, Len Blavatnik & Joseph Sitt also associated.

Britain's record on homelessness is world beating, just not in a good way.

We've the highest recorded levels of homelessness in the developed world; while other counties have seen (albeit slow) declines in homelessness, since 2010 the UK's rate has been accelerating away.

The housing crisis has many dimensions, but here there's a direct correlation between the arrival of the current Tory govt. & massive increases!

The party of landlords is working for them & doing nothing for us!

#housing

Chart: Britain has by far the highest rate of homelessness in the developed world. Rate of homelessness per 10,000 people (2023 or latest). UK - 52/10,000 Belgium & France (next ranked) 32/10,00 then all over states listed (in descending order), below 30/10,000: Czechia (27), Germany (26), USA (19), NZ (13), Australia (12), Canada (10), Portugal (10), Denmark (6), Poland (5), Sweden (5), Spain (5), Norway (3), Finland (1)

I gotta say.. it’s fucking scary to see the far right rise so fast in so many countries with such extremes

We have had 2 world wars with so many deaths that also started with such ‘ideas’ and ‘thoughts’, we cannot and may not let that happen ever again

Unfortunately I don’t have the answers but I really much wish we could find some common ground and cool down things before it gets even further out of hand

As George Monbiot says, the answer to thwarting a fascist movement & its inevitable wars, is using tax dollars to benefit the citizens & voters of a nation, all of them, not just the 1% at the top.

Also, ensuring that the top pays their taxes.

It was the Post WW2 answer that worked for 75 years. It created trade not brinksmanship. It created diplomacy and mutual aid treaties like NATO.

That's the solution.

  1. Tax the rich.
  2. Good government geared towards the needs of the nation.

That's what Montreal now does -- and it's the first North American city to try it.

In Bloomberg CityLab, I explored a groundbreaking way to fight back against car bloat.

Enormous vehicles used to be used by people who needed them. Electricians. Plumbers. Carpenters. Delivery truck drivers.

Suddenly rich people wanted to use huge vehicles to publicize their inner insecurities & paranoid beliefs.

Fears about becoming poor. Fears about thieves & car accidents. Fears about not being masculine.

Fears about the end of the world & fake fears about things like a zombie apocalypses (ie hidden fears about race wars). Fantasies about mountain trails.

The insurance industry is anticipating 1.2 billion climate refugees, 1 billion famine deaths, and billions in property damage. All costs to be dumped onto the taxpayers, not the fossil fuel industry

Two weeks ago, Tesla CEO Elon Musk enacted widespread layoffs throughout the company, including the 500-strong team responsible for the brand's Supercharger.

💥Now, Tesla is looking to hire some of them back💥, Bloomberg reports,
👉as Musk promises to spend $500 million expanding the network.

The Supercharger network is inarguably Tesla's crown jewel.
The company recognized early on that, even though its owners slow-charged at home each night,
knowing they had the ability to rapidly recharge on the road was critical in making an electric vehicle an acceptable alternative to existing vehicles

Firing & rehiring employees is a way to suppress wages, reset the clock on vesting stock options & bonuses, evade labor laws regarding severance benefits, cancels leases, and is an attempt to evade contract obligations.
