Biden Must Reinvent What a Presidential Campaign Is - Simon Rosenberg

https://newrepublic.com/article/178433/biden-must-reinvent-presidential-campaign?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Runyan50,
@Runyan50@newsie.social avatar

@shoq I agree with what this says, but it ignores wealth inequality. If we want to move most of #MAGA from destroying the country to being a positive voice for post-capitalism economic success we must pay attention. This point actually subsumes our climate threat.

Runyan50,
@Runyan50@newsie.social avatar

@shoq And we cannot address issues that have a common cause unless we describe them and their causes.

Runyan50,
@Runyan50@newsie.social avatar

@shoq We lack the power because money controls politics and capitalism controls money. We will not do enough in time to correct our problem because the ones controlling the purse strings won’t allow it. I honestly don’t know what the threshold is for action but it may be the loss of trillions of dollars or millions of lives over a short time. Capitalism is very reactionary.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's appointment of a new defense minister, Andrey Belousov, is seen as an attempt to streamline Russia's economy and mobilize it for the war effort.

Russia's military has faced numerous supply and logistics problems that thwarted its all-out war against Ukraine from the get-go. Two years later, the problems of poor logistics and lack of strategic planning persist.

Runyan50,
@Runyan50@newsie.social avatar

@Free_Press Maybe because Putin keeps appointing unqualified cronies into key positions? Excellent strategy to avoid assassination, but not helpful for the country.

The Biden admin must improve its messaging & campaign ads. The pres. should have a young, charismatic orator speak for him at some events & in ads that tout the admin's many achievements, esp. CHIPS, INFRA, IRA, #climate... & goals for the future.

Biden touts his four major infrastructure & clean energy laws. Voters doubt they’re working. Even when they do see positive benefits, many voters aren’t giving the credit to Biden, a new poll shows.

@KimPerales I don’t know the origin of these “polls”, but I will no longer believe these results until I hear the polling group and its methodology. Even low information Americans know Trump was unable to pass any infrastructure bills. This was a running gag on media for two years. It is as if these people believe OJ Simpson was convicted of murder.

Look, USians, I don't want to step into your internal politics, but you see, 45 years ago, we spaniards had the occurrence to write in our constitution that the head of state (the king) has immunity from prosecution for anything they do while they are in the job, and now we have an ex-king with a Wikipedia page that includes a "alleged corruption" section 55 paragraphs long.

And it's only "alleged" because he can't be taken to court even with the piles of evidence that exist.

I may be biased by my progressive leanings (no, scratch that, I'm definitely heavily biased by them) but it seems like we can reliably look to the young to see the direction we should be moving.

I don't care where you stand politically or your views on the fucked up situation in Gaza, everyone should be standing up to loudly support the rights of students across the globe to protest.
