According to Al-Ahed, israel says it has agreed to allow 2 fuel trucks/day into besieged #Gaza.

This is most likely to lower the resistance’s demands in regards to the prisoners’ exchange file.

#Gaza, which used to get 6.8 million liters of #diesel per week (970,000 liters/day), will now grapple with a meager 60,000 liters/day.

This amount can hardly sustain pumping stations & it’s mainly to prevent sewage from flowing into israel’s shores & to power a few hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip.

It’s important that the passage of #fuel doesn’t turn into a hype which serves the israeli propaganda schemes. 60 thousand liters/day is absolutely NOTHING.

This fuel will NOT reach northern Gaza Strip. Al-Shifa hospital, Indonesian hospital etc will remain dysfunctional.

I have an unhealthy addiction to relatively obscure computers that I probably wouldn't actually use very much. Here is the latest one that the little voice in my head is telling me I need to buy so I can get my fix: the HiFive Pro P550 running the RISC-V ISA:

  • MicroATX form factor
  • 4-core 2.2 GHz
  • 16GB DDR5
  • Gigabit ethernet
  • PCIe expansion slot
  • NVMe

And it should be able to run Guix OS. The thing is, I don't really hack on operating systems or compilers very often, so I would only be using it as an ordinary end-user with the limited software available for it, which I can do right now, and with more available software, using any old x86_64 computer.

So logically, I don't actually need an awesome high-powered RISC-V development board for anything. But that doesn't stop me from seriously considering buying one.

    We cannot live sustainably within today’s economic system. Yet that is what we are constantly being told we can do.

    We can buy sustainable cars, travel on sustainable motorways powered by sustainable petroleum. We can eat sustainable meat, and drink sustainable soft drinks out of sustainable plastic bottles. We can buy sustainable fast fashion and fly on sustainable airplanes using sustainable fuels. And, of course, we are going to meet our short- and long-term sustainable climate targets, too, without making the slightest effort.

    “How?” you might ask. How can that be possible when we don’t yet have any technical solutions that can fix this crisis alone, and the option of stopping doing things is unacceptable from our current economic standpoint? What are we going to do?

    Well, the answer is the same as always: we will cheat. We will use all the loopholes and all the creative accounting that we have conjured up in our climate frameworks since the very first conference of the parties, the 1995 COP1 in Berlin.

    We will outsource our emissions along with our factories, we will use baseline manipulation and start counting our emissions reductions when it suits us best. We will burn trees, forests, and biomass, as those have been excluded from the official statistics. We will lock decades of emissions into fossil gas infrastructure and call it 'green' natural gas. And then we will offset the rest with vague afforestation projects – trees that might be lost to disease or fire – while we simultaneously cut down the last of our old-growth forests at a much higher speed.

    @Alexandrad1 @HikerGeek @breadandcircuses I see 0 evidence that the car has brakes at all. Regardless of all the greenwashing, individual choices, and activism, emissions continue to climb. Yes, we all need to be doing absolutely everything we can, but the most important thing in my opinion is to look at how we can address, rather than avert, the present and imminent catastrophes. Ask Maui how far from the wall they are.
